Specifically the Frv cdti.
She who must be obeyed has told me that she wants one. Problem is that the budget, if i keep it sensible, will only run to a diesel with about 130-140k on it.
If pushed i will go for petrol and suffer the extra cost in fuel each wedk but im trying to find out if they are known for things giving up the ghost at higher mileages.
Bit of an open ended question i know, but as they say - knowledge is power Laughing

The only Honda I know anything about it the Jazz. According to my friend in high places it's the best rated car out there at the moment, the most reliable, and the least likely to breakdown.

Sorry I can't be of any more use...I am a serial Nissan driver Karma

My OH swears by Honda's, had them at high mileage and not much went wrong with them. Yes its a touch more expensive when servicing and when things need replacing, however not much goes wrong with them. My Civic 2.0 petrol Type S is fantastic and cant knock it. Get around 30-35mph on town work, and around 40-50mph on the motorway (depending on how heavy the right foot is Laughing ). Bought it in 2009, it is a 55 plate, got 35,000 miles on the clock and it was £8000 on the dealer forecourt. As you can imagine got some knocked off that during negotiations.

I have a friend who has his own garage, so he does all the servicing etc on it so dont pay dealer prices for that.

The bodies are well built and the motors will go on forever. IMO you have nothing to worry about Thumbs Up

A bad batch of bearings made their way into the gearboxes of the Civic and Jazz in the early to mid 2000s. My wife’s 55 plate Jazz had a couple of bearings go in the gearbox when the car had just gone out of warranty (typical), but the whole mess was sorted out free of charge by Honda because they’re jolly nice chaps...

Don’t see many FRVs about. I test drove one a few years ago, but the poor fuel economy compared to the Jazz put me off. Nice enough car though.

I’m a, not so secret, fan of the Jazz though. Poor performance and so-so handling, but in all other respects it’s an excellent little car wasted on grannys...

...and you can fit a bike in the back if you pop the front wheel off. Wink

Have a look at honestjohn.co.uk, Honda CDTi engines have a habit of needing new injectors at 100k+.

Also turbo failure is not uncommon.

Injector failure is not uncommon on any diesel engine, once you go above 100K, on some engines it will happen much earlier.

Like any engine, regular servicing is all important, and ignore the BS about 20K service intervals, it's total nonsense.
