Hey, i got a small problem with a Squeaking noise coming from somewhere on the bike when the lights are on and the throttle is opened. With lights off - No Squeak. With lights on - Loud Continuous Squeak.

This squeaky business has occurred before. On my brothers car. When he had his lights on, his alternator belt would slip and cause a squeaking noise, i thought this could be the problem on this, but it has a magneto instead of an alternator. It sounds just like a belt is slipping but i only know of 1 belt on this bike atm...

Anyone got any suggestions on how to fix it or had the same experience? if so. How did you fix it.

Thanks.
Will.

maybe your lights are shorting to your horn. they are on the same cluster after all.

take the side panel off and pull of the one spade connector on the horn, which is located just above the radiator Thumbs Up if it stops theres your problem.

If the fitting of the screw is still good then just make sure you use the correct driver and it should come out still.

If it has been rounded then it depends how bad the damage is and what it goes into but there are all sorts of methods, first of all though assuming you are pressing against something solid then I would advise making sure you are using the correct screwdriver and then apply lots of downwards pressure while turning it anti-clockwise.

As long as it is metal is is going in to and not another panel I would try what I said above, I have got worse screws out by using a good screwdriver and some pressure, either that or perhaps consider buying an impact driver.

It doesn't make a sound until i'm doing about 10mph+ so it's really hard to tell where it's coming from...

So either: put it on the centre stand / devise a centre stand if it doesn't have one

or: it's gotta be something wheel related.

You need to replicate the sound with the bike on it's stand basically. That's the next logical step in my eyes

Any Chance it just could be a low battery? because the battery is quite low and i dont imagine that about half a mile can charge it it. It doesn't have enough power to Electric Start it atm.

My dad thinks it could be a low battery

If not, possibly an "out of date" drive belt. The strength and leverage to get the casing off was immense, dont think it's ever been undone, the bike only done 1816 miles but it's an x reg (year 2000)

I don't get how a low battery could POSSIBLY cause a squeak. Anyone care to explain?

Best guess is that there wasn't enough electricity to power them? something to do with the belt didn't have enough power to move right or something...?
