CBT at 16 to use a 50cc then at 17 you can use a 125.

After that you can do your full test which comprises of a theory and a practical test then you can use a bike upto 33bhp for 2 years then after that you can use what you like.

If you are 21 or over you still have to do the CBT but you can do a test called DAS which puts you straight onto any size bike you like.

basically the theory part involves 35 questions of which you must get 30 or more correct

questions like...

"what is the shortest stopping distance at 70mph"

to which you will get multiple choice answers which you just select the correct one on the computer screen

(oh and its 96m Wink )

and you also get maintenance questions, and road safety and a few first aid ones thrown in

then on the same test you do hazard perception which consists of a number of video clips of you in a car driving in various situations and you have to spot potential hazards

you get scored by how fast you react too the hazards quickly gets you 5 then it counts down to 1

and on that test you have to get more than 44 out of 75 (i think)

i should remember as i only did mine on july 6th

then on the practical test you must perform

a hill start, turn in the road, emergancy stop, angled start and answer a few more questions about pillions etc

but you must also ride genrally safe and remember all the correct observations etc...

12 days untill my practical test, and i am bricking it

You probably did one on the route without the examiner saying 'stop here then start again' like at a junction or something.

I wasn't given an emergency stop on my car test because I had to do a real one when someone pulled out on me.
