Cam Chain tensioner

Right i need a new one , I know where it is and how to fit it etc , But once a new one is fitted does the cam chain need adjusting or is this the job of the tensioner. Eg is it automatic or manual in adjusting? Thanks in Advance Thumbs Up

Thw GSX-R 750 had a recall (faulty cam chain/tensioners)and Suzuki carried out the work/fix/replace for free. Assuming its an srad gixxer. Suzuki can tell you if it's been done before, they have records.

Doesnt the rvf have gear driven cams? sorry i cant remember. Embarassed

Of course, you're other Honda will have a chain.

I think the tensioner will adjust the tension up to a point, after many miles the chain will have stretched too much and need replacing... Usually what happens.

Oh and you will know when you have it apart, it will be obvious Wink

i know about some of these things from cars (although most use belts), and bikes have a habbit of being different.

No doubt somone will tell you if im right or wrong.

On the CBR it'll be an auto adjuster. Manual adjusters are old school.
