The issue is that most Chinese-branded 125s claim to be 90kph, because that's the limit on the fastest road that they're allowed to ride on in China. So the manufacturer ticks the "90kph" box, the Party inspector gets a new Rolex, and everyone's happy.

Then they arrive over here and the DSA say "Oh, that's A1", until an importer makes a representation that no, actually, the bikes are capable of 100kph.

The Huonaio and Lexmoto brandings have active importers who have got them A2 rated, but the Haotian brand currently doesn't - it's now branded as the Lexmoto - so Haotian owners are stuck with A1 bikes. Unless they hide the branding and say it's a Lexmoto. Which it actually is, now.

Just the usual nitpick here:

If you're daft enough to book an A1 test, or get caught with an A1 bike on the day (not capable of 100kph), then you get an A1 "light" license. This only ever lets you ride 125s up to 11kW. You can take the L plates off, carry a pillion and go on the motorway, but that's it. It doesn't upgrade unless you sit an A2 or A test.

If you sit on a A2 bike (DSA category) then you get an A license (DVLA category) with a 2 year 25kW limit endorsement. At the moment, there's no such thing as an A2 license.

There will be a Europe-wide A2 license in a couple of years (35kW limit, on a bike that doesn't generate >70kW as stock, doesn't automatically upgrade), but there isn't one now, so we should try to get out of the habit of talking about it.

That's what I was confused about, Mito is the same bike but doesn't need proof of restriction, but what I don't get is that the RS125 dimensionally is about the same as an SV650, and can make a realistic 26bhp and will keep up with a 33bhp bike, why not just allow people to use it for A1 considering some of the other bikes they allow for A1 test
