Your legs your choice but they are better than normal jeans, probably wont offer as much protection as textiles certainly not as much as leathers. Oh and they wont be as warm as textiles for the winter.

Draggin Jeans I believe are the biggest brand.

Draggin have some CE approved jeans, as far as I know the only brand to have achieved this. They also have some videos of drag tests which look quite convincing.

Hood are a British company who do Local Jeans for Local People, and also seem like they're taking it seriously. They do some semi-formal trousers as well as jeans.

As an alternative, Draggin produce kevlar long johns ("K legs") which you can wear under any trousers. However, they run expensive (£135+) and don't come with the foot loops or armour pockets that the international equivalent ("Draggin' liners") come with, so I'm not convinced.

Have a search on BCF there are plenty of posts on it, also check out Hood jeans website, they're a british company and have plenty of reviews on the site. They're definatley better then normal jeans, it wont stop the impact, but it will stop you being skint, you can usually get armour to put in the knees and hips. They're hardly noticable at all and i find them really comfy Very Happy alot easier walking around too or less hassle with not having to take kit off Very Happy

I just bought a new pair today, Triumphs brand Kep jeans, they're quite styley with nice feeling kevlar on the knees, bum and thigh Very Happy well kitting and comfy.

From reading posts here, stay clear of cheap ebay brands. The main brands are Hood, Draggin, RST, Red route, Held do a pair, as to triumph, Bulletproof.. and a few others Very Happy

Range in price from £80-£120 Im tempted do buy another pair from Hood as for the money they seem awesome, but they arnt that fashionable. Red route seem to be pretty trendy Very Happy

thanks for the awesome replies guys. they've been really helpful. i think i'm going to go with red route. i only plan on using these for low speed rides to socialise with non biker mates. everything else is textile all the way. thanks for your help! Thumbs Up

i've got some hood ones, cannot comment on how they perform in a crash but they are fairly comfortable and and feel pretty tough.

they came with some knee pads and hip pads but to be honest if you're going use them you might aswell just wear textiles. Especially the knee pads as they look really odd and are quite uncomfortable at times.

I've got Red Route & Draggin jeans. They are convenient and provide some protection, depending on if you use them as is or add additional armour. I've had a off with the red route jeans on and they did rip, but my tumble mustn't have involved much of a slide...though I don't know cos I was knocked out...

As much as you might like the red camo jeans, avoid them they are for wimens Laughing

I lowsided my GS500 on black ice in a pair of hoods, didn't have the armor in at the time but the jeans stood up just fine, little black mark on the side of the jeans where they were standing in as a crash bung for the engine casings but that washed out no problem, otherwise no damage at all Thumbs Up

They are not as good looking as some brands, but I'm pretty confident in my opinion that they are right up there with the strongest. My Lindstrads are no way near as sturdy by comparison.

By no means are they as good as leather but a hell of a lot better than textile. Whatever ones you choose, make sure you get some hip/knee armour as an extra. Bad ones in crashes: hornee, hood, redroute (might as well be naked) berik and furygan have pretty decent ones. Reccomended are Sartso and Draggin, sartso are slightly more 'Street' focussed and Draggin more traditional.

Ok, only my opinion but as I have been in the motorcycle retail industry for some years now, these have been the most common brands that just don't stand up to a major crash. Time after time we've seen people come in with a set of nackered hood or redroute jeans and complaining of the quality and injuries. Should have been less direct in stating 'bad'.

Thumbs Up Cheers, that's good to know. I'm disappointed about Hood - I guess they've put more work into marketing than engineering.

I think I have the same as you - do they have a little dragon on the knee?

If so, they're not bad - I lowsided up an Austrian alp at about 15mph and there's hardly a mark on them. Admittedly it's not a very demanding crash, but jeans would've torn I'd think.

That's them. Would've liked slightly thicker jean material tho.
The knee protection does sit a little bit low when stood up, to be expected i suppose.

I've got the Red Route ones, they seem fine, not sure how great they'd be in a crash, they are quite loose and the knee pads have plenty of room to move.

I wear Sartso jeans made by guys who worked for draggin and thought they could do better apparently, for the benefit of BCF I have crash tested my current pair twice and all they have to show for it is two 5p sized wear patches on the left knee. The kevlar looks undamaged which considering the state the thundercat was left in was quite impressive. Also for you tall guys out there I am 6'4" with a 36 leg and they are almost too long if anything!

Hood jeans are only sold online - so you must have some weird customers if they keep bringing them back to you knackered...

Also - Hood are one of only a few who use Kevlar to line nearly all the jean, most just have Kevlar lined areas. Which is fine as long as you carefully choose which bits of you to slide along the ground, and the jeans don't move around at all as you slide.

I wear a pair of Lindstrands Wrap Jeans and there absolutely amazing the feel alot more solidly made than the draggin and a lot cheaper too Smile they actually looked a lot more like non biking jeans than the draggin too.

Back to you, hondaluke. Can you clarify where you've seen these shredded Hoods? Any chance you're thinking of some other brand?
