Brake light on scooter 125cc

Hi, when I pull my back brake lever only the brake light doesnt come on however when I pull my front brake the light comes on normal. As this is my first scooter I would like too know if this normal or should the back brake make the rear brake light come on as well

the switch has gone on whichever break is causing the light to not work, there only a few pound and very easy to fit, should be able to get them at any bike shop/auto spares place Thumbs Up

So would that be something it would fail its mot on ? Just wondered as the brake light works when you pull the front brake

Yes it is an MOT failure

If your handy with a multimeter you can easily check the switch, or the wiring as its either one of these

theres a switch for each break, so if one switch breaks... the other break will still make the light work, make sence?

its a real simple job to do mate, and it is an mot failure as jose said. know anyone remotly good with things like that? its like a 10 minute job

Its a very simple procedure, any garage/ technically minded person will be able to diagnose it within about 10 minutes

I have a mate who could do it however he lives quite far away as I am currently living in manchester

does any of that make sence? its a realy simple thing to do. if that dont make sence ^^ then you could, go to an auto spares place and buy a new switch. then you will have it to look at, locate it on your bike. remove the old one, install the new one.

just need to un screw it and detach the wires Thumbs Up

You need to find yourself a scooter mechanic anyway, so if you're not comfortable fixing it yourself, go to a local place and test them by getting them to do this.

I had exactly the same thing on my scoot, except that it was front brake, and it was discovered during the MOT. They would have failed the bike, but as it was something that was a quick fix (not even ten minutes), they passed the bike and put in a new switch without charge.

Im not sure if replacing a switch really counts as "mechanics" tbh.

If you do change it, and it has a spring attached to it, make sure you adjust it so that its on only when you push it! Seems obvious but probably worth mentioning.
