You don't send a '98 R1 to the UK, it sends you.

It must go through quarantine procedure and wear a muzzle at all times when in the country.

I heard that it was illegal to ship a 98 R1 to the UK as us Brits cant handle them.

It all depends on the condition and milege
Usual prices at the moment are around 1500 - 2200 for good condition bikes with 20000 miles and over. under that and in perfect condition can see them hit the 3K mark.

My R1 decided that i wasn't awesome enough to ride her so she logged onto ebay and sold herself......... Crying or Very sad

Or the OP has seen a 1998 R1 on his local forum and is trying to find out what they sell for in the U.K. As he see's a chance of making a bit of cash.

If you do go for it make sure to take it for a test ride and give it some stick in 2nd gear. Its a notorious weak spot in the early R1s so if it pops out of gear when you hit the throttle just walk away. Its a pain in the arse of a job to fix as its an engine out task

I have sent the guy a PM, but he is selling it for a mate, so it may well turn out to be a Honda Melody, but you never know your luck.

FYI - That was the early R6's.

1998 R1's with 20k+ miles are normally £1500 - £2500 condition depending.

FYI the 98-02 R1s also had the same issue go check the R1 forums for more info on it. The selector forks get worn and it slips out of gear under heavy acceleration.

Full throttle is only accessible by chuck himself, this is what happened when he went to the shop.

Don't forget. "A small twist of the throttle alters the speed as required. " Wink

That is an auction and the advert does not say anything about the bike at all, mileage? history? It is missing its lowering fairing stickers and all the "R1" and "YZF" stickers are not genuine yamaha stickers.

8 services in 6.5k miles!

A service every 800 odd miles, and it's only doing 500 miles a year. Criminal.
