ZRX 1100 / 1200

Anybody own one of the above? I've seen one locally that's tempting me to swap the Speed triple. I always liked the look of these bikes and wondered if there are any issues with them?

I've got a 2002 1200R, and I love it. It'll be quite a lump compared to what you're used to. I had a 99 Speed Trip, and the ZRX is like an elephant in comparison... Albeit a fast, fun elephant.

Not much goes wrong with them, and they're pretty easy to liberate more power for not much cash, particularly the 11. Personally I'd like slightly stiffer fork springs and that'd be it. Hustling wise I'd place it halfway between my old Triple and my Blackbird (which is exactly what I wanted), the same goes for comfort.

I like the look of these too. Based on my minimal research I would go for the 1200 just to avoid the stinky-poo 6 pot calipers on the 1100.

Coming from a ZX6R with these I can tell you what a pain in the arse they are to rebuild every time you show them a puddle.

The 12 has the same callipers as standard. Never given me a problem yet.

My mates ZRX12 has the same Tocico six pots as my busa. He loves it but hes into retro bikes. He says its a right handful when giving it beans in a corner, the chassis isn't up to the engine power.

Chassis is fine, it'll take what it's given. If you're proper mental (in which case you have the wrong bike), you'll find the suspension the limiting factor. USD front ends and uprated rears are pretty common for the trackday guys, but I don't fuck about, and only find the front end slightly soft. Some decent linear springs and it'll be spot on.

I've got a ZRX1100, I've had it for 3 years and done 30k miles on it and I still love it.

It's a solid bike that won't go wrong as long as you keep on top of maintaining it (but that's the same for every bike). The only things I've had to replace in 30k miles (and it had 10k on it before I got it) is consumables like tyres, wheel bearings, chains + sprockets and brake pads. I've been through 3 speedo drives but that was my own fault for not reading the manual properly...

It's fine when you pick up the pace if you don't mind a bit of hustling, I love how it handles personally but I never got on with proper sportsbike seating positions.

pretty much what I expected, I know they aren't going to handle like a ZX10, but I don't want or need that from a bike anyroad.
Love the looks and size of them, so my mind is made up to go for it now.
