I spoke to a mate yesterday, he's just done his cbt again, as his was due to expire soon. Apparently the 'new' test will involve a skid test at 30mph. He's been know to bend the truth a bit before, but knowing how the European idiots can be some times (straight banana anyone? Wink

), I wouldn't be surprised if there's some truth to it.
Anyone heard anything like it?

...and the emergency stop, which iirc results in a fail if you skid

Yeah, swerve test at 32MPH, whereby you must stop with your front wheel in a box. But also an emergency stop whereby you must not skid.

I'm not sure where that's come from. The DfT is currently floating a lot of balloons about the replacement test, but I hadn't heard anything about changes to the CBT.

There isn't even anything in the usual culprit, 2006/126/EC aka the 3rd Driving License Directive, in which the words "provisional", "learner" or "CBT" are conspicuous by their absence except hidden away implicitly in the "05. Limited use" subcodes.

However, it's possible that some DfT spacker has misinterpreted Annex VI (the minimum training/test requirements for "upgrading"(*) A1 -> A2 or A2 -> A) to apply to CBTs. Stranger things have happened.
