cbt centres are a little pants

i did my cbt, a while ago .. maybe a month ago now even.

as i am 16 i had to do it on a 50cc, and as we know the majority of 50cc bikes are non geared and are scooters.

on my cbt was only 2 people myself and 1 lady.

she did her cbt on a honda cg125 and i did mine on a yamaha neos (horrid, horrid, horrid)

i was shown how to move a throttle and use my front and back brakes, however the lady on the 125 had to go through another 10 minuites of talking about her clutch and gears...

i ride a geared bike...
so imediatly when i got home i wanted to go out on my bike, which i did, and i am sure we can all remember our first times out on bikes, we wernt exacly confident. but imagine going out and it being your first time on a powered cycle WITH GEARS.

i think cbt centres should teach you on a geared bike, and not a scooter

But most people at the age of 16 get something which doesn't have gears and would moan that they're having to be taught all that when they don't need to know it. Not suprising that they spent 10 minutes explaining about how to use the clutch and gears as she needed to know it to be able to do her CBT

Its odd how some people have trouble with a clutch and gears, i have never considerd anything without them and have allways known how they work. the first time i got on a bike i was completly able to change gear (allthough clutch control for manuvering was a bit pants).

I guess in your situation being shown how to work gears would have been helpful. If it were me teaching the CBT i would have let you have a go on the CG offroad to get used to gears ready for when you go on your own bike.

i didnt find the gears and clutch too difficult to be honest, as i have always been quite interested in the car world.

the only thing that confused me was ...

i was going into a corner to fast, and panic set in, i rememebered the intscruter said to pull the back break in a corner... so what did i do? i pulled the clutch making the engine rev loads, scaring me and i slammed the front on thus making me in the gravel at the side of the road skidding... since then though i havce been riding alot better i feel. i suppose it takes one near miss to show you.

on my cbt they told everyone about how to use gears even the ped boys. iu think that that is good as my mate went straight from a ped to a mito and he didnt have a clue.
a danger to him and other road users.
