Précis: Tinmouth (31), of Ellesmere Port, will step up to the world's toughest motorcycle racing series after finishing a close third in the 2010 British Supersport Cup to fulfil her dream of racing a Superbike and is ready to take on her male counterparts.

Interesting to see how Jenny does in BSB, i've watched her in the last couple of TT's and she's a none too shabby road racer. She's the quickest ever female around the TT course with a lap of just under 120mph, quite surprising how she manages to muscle a TT Superbike around on the roads!

I don't expect much. I've seen her race lots while covering BSB events and she was less than average in Supersport. Much of her coverage comes from the fact she's female rather than because she's fast. The same is true of Nicole McAleer in 125s. To be honest, I think she'll struggle to make any kind of impact in BSB but good luck to her.

On commission for how many times they could get a patronising "girl" comment in?

Thats true, compared to the best in BSB she isnt anywhere near them and most probably got a space because shes female and that brings its own sponsors. She's still bloody quick though, 120MPH lap on the TT.

You can see a video of her here taken by Spike Edwards: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0L5C-PTHds

Needs to stop adjusting her lines mid corner imo Laughing

Yep, but quick in road racing doesn't equate to quick in track racing. I'll predict here and now that she'll be bottom five all season (not deliberately trying to be negative Laughing ).

Big time. She's 31 for god's sake. Not a girl.

You hear that one on all kinds of sports, we have the men and we have the girls. No, if you have men, then you have women. If you have girls then you have boys. 'Girl' is actually a derogatory term when used like that, with shades of 'little girl trying to play a man's game'. All the more so when the 'girl' in question is probably older than a fair percentage of the grid.

Anyway, the whole thing's back to this nasty chestnut - if you're a female racer then get on and race. You don't want to 'beat the boys', you want to beat everyone - you're a racer! So what if you're the 'fastest woman' - big deal. That crap's just marketing - if you have to add a sub-category to 'fastest' then it's not worth much. Inspiring the girls.... yeah whatever. I'd hope most of my gender don't need to see someone with a vagina doing something before it crosses their mind that they could do it too.

BUT.... and it's a big but... competition is fierce for rides, for sponsorship and maybe you just have to use whatever you can to get your foot in the door. Would 'mediocre BSB team hire mediocre male rider' have warranted a post on here? No it wouldn't. Two way street innit... I couldn't have told you what the Splitlath logo looked like before this and I wouldn't have clicked on 'team hire bloke' either. Karma

Good luck to her. I hope she keeps her head down, races her arse off and only attracts the right kind of attention.

She came third in supersport CUP, Big wow. Its the babyleague of the baby national series. If she came third in supersport proper then put her on a superbike.

I agree with silver I've seen her racing around in the back 5 getting lapped every race. Yeah she is miles quicker than me, but I don't try and race. I've worked with much faster riders who have had to give up due to lack of money!

I suppose its just the same as some random driver getting in a F1 car when he brings massive sponsorship, pushing out an experienced 'challenger.' She'll get loads of press meaning more sponsors for the team.

This does nothing for girls in sport IMO.

Seems I was wrong. After missing the opening round (through no fault of her own) she was Oulton Park this weekend for round two... and was so slow that she didn't even qualify. 31st (and dead last) in qualifying with a best lap of 1m 44.422s, compared with Tommy Hill's pole position time of 1m 35.157s.

Christ, that lap time would have put her 33rd (out of 36) on the bloody Supersport grid!
