I have to be in Salzburg, Austria by 10am Sat 5th Feb, probably going to go by bike Thursday night, deliver sat and head back for monday sometime, probably.

Will go via belgium, lux, germany to avoid the tolls.

Anyone else up for it?

Why are you doing this? Is it just to delivery something or is it a booty call or what? Confused

Seems odd and expensive to go all that way and have no time to see anything.

It's a job, got to make a delivery sat between 9-10am

Thought about flying but rather go by bike, if the package gets here from america by 4pm thurs i'll be in Austria by friday night, spend night in cheap hotel, deliver and spend a couple of days plodding back, might possibly go via paris

The weirdest thing, just out walking the dog and phone rings.

"hello, don't know if you can help but could you give me a price to take something to austria" Shocked

So, i've now got 2 deliveries in Austria Saturday 50 miles apart.

Good for the bank but not so great for me as i'll now have to go in the car as a mattress won't fit on the bike Sad

Yeah, the fun of it.
Was doing a prague run once a month but thats not happening at the mo.
Good to get into if you can get the jobs regularly but i spend most the time getting stressed out in the UK on our crap roads, with bad drivers and pathetic attitudes, over the water it is a different world.
Roll on tomorrow Very Happy

sofa.com apparently, things people do eh!

It's a double, if it was a cheepy single i might have been able to roll it and strap it on the bike

Well, apparently 120 leaflets are worth a lot of cash, the main package to Austra has just arrived, opened it and it's 120 leaflets Shocked

Ah well, off to hayes to pick up the mattress this after and then off to the tunnel, nothing stranger than real life eh!!

Why don't you just post them?

Unfortunately for them the post won't deliver at a set time and day. The leaflets have to be at a hotel in Salzburg between 9-10am on Saturday. No exceptions. My business is all about doing what the customer needs, it's obviously costing them but they are getting exactly what they need when they need it.

I also have a gps tracker on me so they can see where the package is and even how fast I'm going.
They'll be able to be waiting in reception when I arrive.

The mattress was just an unexpected bonus job that means I'm now in the car and not bike, well, will be when I get out of this mcdonalds in Germany

Started 19 years ago when there was plenty of work, now every short of work builder, roofer and chippie with a van has become a courier.
Luckily not so many bike couriers springing up, some do but quickly realise you still have to do that 300 mile job when it's honking down with rain and puts off most within a few weeks.
