I used this guy,
https://www.optiflowuk.com/
He was very friendly and helpful, be warned, forks often can't be straightened. I would consider buying new stantions or a second hand pair of forks. ABE sell forks but a word of warning mine pitted within a year try to stick to OEM second hand stantions. ____________________ Well, you know what they say. I think mine have kinked at the point of the yoke clamps (about halfway down the sanctions) so I may have to buy new forks or sanctions.
Ebay isnt providing much at the moment, at the minuite im looking at quotes for repairs but it looks unlikely its do-able at the moment. |
That's what happened to mine, I went with ABE but I would never buy from them again, they seem to be pretty poor quality,
What I would do is buy a decent pair of SH forks and make sure they are in good nick, strip both pairs of forks down then built them back up with new seal and bushes and the best bits from the pair.
You are lucky through,

use the same upper stantions. It may be that the bikes that use the same upper stantions have the same lower ones as well but the internals have been upgraded so a pair from a modern bike might be a decent upgrade. ____________________ Well, you know what they say. yeah i saw those 02 speed triple ones on ebay, need new oil and seals but so what, may be a good find if the price is right!
Triumph do a lot of stuff that can be swaped between models and from what you say their forks will too.
Im just hoping nobody is in the same boat as me so i dont get outbid lol
pic of mine attached 1 for each, one obviously worse than the other, not major just annoying while riding. ____________________ Current: 1997 Triumph Daytona T595 (new engine)

If they are kinked - don't try to straighten them, if they were merely bent you could press them straight. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

While waiting for a pro's opinion on my current forks, I went out (on ebay) and bought a pair of 02 speed triple legs(complete + axle). £97 inc. postage which I though was pretty fair for how rare a good set can be, but Iv gotta wait over 2 bloody weeks for delivery though!
Once i get them, il take the opportunity to do a complete strip, oil and seal change. And if im lucky I may just have a spare set in a sound condition to sell.
Thanks for all your advise. ____________________ Current: 1997 Triumph Daytona T595 (new engine)

The seal sizes should be moulded on the front face. If they are just compare the numbering. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Upper sanctions from 97-02 are identical, so I've used the straight uppers and newer internals on the existing fork bottoms. Done a set of fork seals on my own for the 1st time last night, but ran out of enough fork oil. I bought some more on by break today so it concludes tonight and should be ready to go back on the bike in no time.
£97.00 - Pair of forks
£5.35 - Fork oil seals
£6.75 - Dust seals
£13.90 - 10w Fork oil 2x litres ____________________ Current: 1997 Triumph Daytona T595 (new engine)
