'96 Bandit, worth?

Alright guys, seen this '96 bandit in a dealer 10 miles from me..
20k miles and from the pictures doesn't look too bad..

Would obviously take someone who knows about bikes with me to have a look at it..

listed at £995..

cheers rob, won't rule it out just yet but will keep in mind it's over priced

where abouts is it mad? I cant view the ebay link on my phone..and i'm pretty limited to the nottingham/derby area..

Cheers adam, the ever available advice source :p .I will definetly be taking someone whose opinion is trust worthy, will be paying for a bike technician from the shop i'm doing my my training with before i part with any cash.. The pictures could do with more detail and abit more info on service history etc would be helpful.. But just thought it was worth asking since it's within budget and plenty local enough cheers, Nick.

It does look nice, but probably a bit to far away, when i say local i literally mean 30 miles or so :/

I think that's what's making it hard to spot the bargains.. they are they're just outside of my traveling distance

Still means having my dad take me up there and paying for an accompanied inspection with the guy riding 50 miles..

and who says he would deliver?

After the first bike hurdle I'll be able to travel further independently but this first bike ideally needs to be local lol

It's the traveling 50 miles to view it which is a bit impractical for me :/

Is parkers price guide a very rough estimate?

Because it prices that bandit at £830 private good condition and £1080 from a dealer?

ok no the bike your looking at is over priced, theres alot better and alot cheaper out there for your money
but as your restricted by distance you may have to wait to find a bike at the right price

All of the bikes I looked at in dealers recently were well over the Parkers dealer prices, like 35% to 75% over, so yes, Parkers is effectively useless. None of them were remotely interested in negotiating even for a cash-in-hand no-trade-in deal, and that was right after Xmas when you wouldn't think there would be a lot of money coming in or stock going out. I can only assume that they'd rather sit on their stock until spring, and survive on selling gloves or whatever until then.

Most of the local private sellers were also very optimistic; it took me almost 2 months to find a Local Bike For Local People, in good condition at a decent price that was actually for sale - as opposed to one where the asking price went up as soon as anyone expressed an interest. It helps if you can find someone who's selling one bike from a garage full of them, rather than flogging their sole pride and joy.

So if you want a good deal, you'll have to be patient. You could try making an offer on the dealer bike, or asking for a warranty (if you think they'll honour it) or a service and/or a full year's MOT - ideally while you watch, some dealers aren't above just stamping the book or printing off an MOT for any old wreck.

haha fair enough then won't use parkers as a basis for anything

think there might have been a mention of a 3 month warranty.. Or maybe that was from another dealer.. That one is one of two dealers in derby that i'm going to take a look at.. The bandit does seem like the only sub 1K bike i've seen local.. Plenty in the 1-1.5k bracket but they're also dealerships and didn't seem as good value..

I understand it might take longer to find one and that's why i'm keeping an eye out now
