Not sure if this interests anyone, I know some of you guys like to record your rides. I've reviewed another helmet camera.

I've got one of them, only problem being it only records for an hour or so before the battery dies, and if the battery dies it corrupts the last 30minutes of video. Fits snugly inside my helmet though.

Good point. It'd probably be worth making some sort of charger with the bike battery. You should be able to leave it and grab a coffee, and it'll be fully charged again.

Agreed it's a good little camera for short hops out, but you always run the risk of it cuttingout at a vital moment. I had my camera on when I crashed, but it ran out of battery at somepoint between crash and A+E, so I lost a crucial piece of evidence. Claim went 100% my way in the end, but it would've been easier had the camera not fucked about.

Is it your choice that there's an advert prior to your other videos, out of interest.

Always annoys me when I get them whatever it is and just close the tab generally, as it's rare it a youtube video is worth it Smile.

Don't start filming from your/friends house, don't show number plates or anything else that can tie you in to the vid......

I did remove the battery of my "original" MD80 and replaced it with one 1300Mah from my HD2 phone.
It last for ages. It can record 4~5 hours until the 8GB card gets full (need to get a 16GB)

It's inside my helmet, so I can use it for recording my boring commute trip and at the end of the week I just delete all the files and recharge the battery.

Not sure I would, actually, with all the press around Lauren Luke etc Wink.
Some videos to be random (ie, if I open the same link another time I don't get the ad), but yours don't.
Like the presentation of your 'buttons for other reviews', but still closed the window anyway when the ad came up Smile.

A little trick for MD80 users....

Why would I edit it out, Haven't got any video software on my pc. and besides, id have to re-upload. Fuck all there for people to do. People see my plates every day.
Not sure how I'd edit it out anyway.

I had a quick look and didn't see you doing anything particularly illegal (maybe a bike went a little too fast at the end, but I didn't see a speed limit sign, may have been more than a 30.)

The two reasons you'd avoid is a) your bike being nicked.
Someone wants a NSR to order. They search for 'NSR video'. Ah look, a recent one showing the address it's probably kept.
Less likely with an NSR, but still worth considering.

b) The police see it and use that to easily trace who you are and do you for a traffic offence. N30 on here had that happen to him with 8 officers busting down his door at 7am or something. Didn't sound like fun.

I was not having a go at you, just pointing something out.
Think of it like this.You don't post stuff that is traceable to you on forums, so why make life easy for them via u-tube or such Karma

Windows comes with movie maker... Plenty of other stuff out there as well, that is/can be free Thumbs Up

I have been using the c-sports hds720p tiny little thing its basically a gopro but alot smaller/neater and cheaper

What does that do exactly? Just make it work proplerly? Laughing I know I have to turn mine on and off a few times till it decides to record.

It's not a nice job, but it works.

This is with the original MD80 (metal body) but it should be the same for the cheap ones (maybe even better because the metal cover in the front is heavy)

Just remove the back cover, find the small battery and remove the contacts.
The HD2 battery I'm using it's the same 3.7v but has more mah, so it last longer.

Solder a couple of wires to mobo of the camera, and use some kind of socket (I'm using a computer jumper from a mobo to be able to connect and disconnect the battery) so you can charge the battery without been connected to the camera (a MUST).
I guess you can use any phone battery, but don't try to charge the battery through the camera, it may work, but the could be nice explosions hehehehe Smile

This is the one I'm using and cames with a charger:

You can see the camera is thinner without the original battery and cover, so it doesn't obstruct too much.

If you do it with the original MD80 (or Muvi Veho) you can also use the voice activated, leave it on all the time, and it should record while riding (at least mine does it)

In a 8GB it can hold about 4~5 hours (mine does 700mg files every 30 minutes, but I found the that the cheap/fake ones don't compress that much), you can also use a 16GB, I'm sure the phone battery will last that long. (I can go two weeks without charging) recording 1 hour per day.

btw, I forgot to add, be careful when soldering the cables to the battery contacts, "ignorance is bless", my brother told me if you heat the contacts too much the battery may blow, maybe get the helmet on while soldering hehehehe Wink
