https://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/182447_10150099655968622_500588621_6205504_744737_n.jpg

So I'v got myself a nice little back up bike for £290 on the road which is pretty cheap as I have seen these CG's going for £700 on ebay.

Now the real work starts, do not know what mods to do to it. Im thinking giving it a nice change of colour to metallic blue with black saddle bags?!?!?!?!

This is a good cheap project bike which happens to be on the road.

Thoughts?

What about looking in the breakers and seeing if you can get a set of forks and front wheel off a later disc-braked model?

I suggest you dont go to mad and ruin a great little bike Thumbs Up

What happens if the back up bike gets nicked? Then you've wasted £290 Wink

I wouldn't bother painting it, waste of money on something that you got a good deal on.

Why not sell it and use the profit to fund your test?

Nope, my 33bhp drops off so I could get any size bike on 7th May

Replace "amazing" with "economical" and you might be nearer the truth. It's a 4T 125, no one in history has ever recorded a rise in pulse rate from pottering around on one.

You're wrong, I love riding my bike. If I didn't I would of brought a different bike.

The only "big" bike I would get would be a CBF500

You're tremendously dull. You know that?

I had an XR125L for eighteen months. It was a commuting tool and not much more. Very competent, and excellent value, in that capacity. I thought that when I passed my test, whatever else I got, I'd keep it as a commuter. One day spent on another bike (Guzzi) and I thought, "fu*k that, this XR is slow as sh*t. I'll buy a VFR750 for commuting."

I got over the loss of my long term XR in about the time it took to enter my PIN number for the purchase of the VFR.

Live a little.

p.s. Excellent buy with the CG. No idea why you'd want to back up the tediously reliable XR though. Why not just sell it on for a profit?

CB125 CDI unit to let it rev.
Little porting work and the baffles out the exhaust... maybe cut the end off to make it look more like an old fasioned magaphone.
Then...
Old School Cafe Racer... small ali mudguards, ace-bars, rounded triangular side-panels and long oval tank with a rubber stap doen the middle.
Round headlamp with perspex flyscreen
Maybe a new front wheel with larger drum brake from something like a CD200?
Bum-stop saddle....
Rear-sets.
taking mechanical mods a bit further, thicker forks, and some rear shcoks with damping in them!
