Hi
Tyre would be my main guess but a buckled wheel would also cause it. And a worn shock will probably make this vibration far worse from just a lightly out of balance wheel.
Would agree with Matt about a drive shaft or wheel bearing being possible, but I would suspect you would hear other symptoms first before the vibration became an issue.
All the best

Hi
Wheel bearings normally rumble when really bad, but whine when starting to go. You will probably be able to feel play in them.
If you have hot pot holes then a fair chance a wheel is buckled. Check the inside edge (we wrecked a wheel on the 155 on a lump of something on a roundabout, looked OK from the outside by a deep buckle on the inside edge)
All the best

Thought I would update for the benefit of future search results:
The problem was a slightly buckled wheel and a tyre that was very damaged. Tyre looked 99% normal with pressure in it, when it was taken off the rim though it it was very badly shaped (dent and twist in the tread), also splits in the rubber with threads exposed could be seen between the tread. I'm lucky it didn't blow I reckon, feckin potholes!
Anyway thanks for the help . |
