Its really come along way from what it used to be.

they have added a content downloader which autodetects which NewGRFs have been used on a save game etc.

Ill upload my current savegame that i have been playing on and off for 5yrs

No TTD, never got into it, but..

I have a binge on Locomotion for a few weeks at least once a year, prefer the rollercoaster tycoon like graphics and track laying over transport tycoons more sparse visuals.

It does get a bit samey after a while though, and eats up far too many hours that could be spent doing other more useful things.

Also, the AI is infuriating, the way they can build - with seemingly infinite funds - a big ugly fucking viaduct right across the map whilst you are struggling to afford to lay each block, and any kind of elevated tracks or landscaping is a huge no-no.

Really wish Chris Sawyer would come back and fix it, and generally be less stroppy about his games. I get the impression he sees himself as some sort of troubled genius, or maybe he has made his millions and has fucked off out of it. Who could blame him.

The problem I find with Locomotion after a while is that it is actually fucking retarded.

Basically instead of laying of loads of different railway lines which become complicated to manage, I end up having massive transport hubs in a city with say 9-10 platforms and then use a twin railtrack system, like in real life say.

So with proper junctions n all that, I set a train to go to a particular station along the line and it just doesn't, it goes to the furthest station along a line. It's just retarded and only ends up like this after a while when there is shitloads happening. It frustrates me no end and thus I no longer play it.

Please dont get hooked on it again, you will only end up missing the summer.

You DO realise what you just did! It's now installed on my work laptop so now I have the thing minimised and alt + tab back into it when my supervisor isn't looking!

It brings back childhood memories. 5 year old kid on a compaq presario 486 sx with the midi tunes going in the background seeing semaphores raise and lower letting your BR-8P loco hauled train crash into a parked routemaster bus with 40 or so occupants!

Much better than Locomotion because mine ALWAYS used to crash if you left the game running for long enough! And the fact that you couldn't summon your vehicles to the garage for repairs.
