Nice weather today I thought i'd go and have some fun. First time this year I've see loads of other bikes out, even a 749/999 so it must be the start of the 'season' Laughing

Nice to actually ride in the daytime as opposed the dark and rain which I've been doing over and over again...

I went out briefly today, not too cold but the sun is still at a jaunty angle. While I was waiting at some traffic lights a guy coming the other way popped a wheelie Thumbs Up

I had my dark visor on and still couldn't see much when riding towards the sun and then when it rained a bit it became worse!

Both me and Dad went out today. Rode over to our local bike shop and they said it had been very busy with 'passers by'.

Was a lovely afternoon here Smile.

It's a false dawn. It hailed at mine, and snow may be coming in the next week or so. Yay.

I just wanted to pop around the corner this morning... but ended up in WALES!!! Shocked.

Loads of bikers out in the Severn Estuary/Valley Area to be fair and plenty out in the cotswolds. Was only meant to be a 20 minute blast but ended up going through the Forest of Dean and was held up by spectator traffic for the rally.... so I decided to head over to George Whites' in Swindon on the way back to perv over the accessories counter girl Razz .

Still had plenty of daylight to take a long detour home via the cotswolds back roads.

In short, what was supposed to be a 30 mile short blast turned out to be 130! I had to fill up twice Crying or Very sad

And, rightly so, there IS NO SEASON! If it's more than 8-10 degrees, my summer kit comes out - perforated race leathers and summer gloves (albeit I do wear a liner underneath).

A word to the wise, any hint of sun and warm weather, you can expect the rozzers to be out, so always check your mirrors and look for the obvious tell tale signs of an undercover cop car. I picked out at least 4 today on my little blast. The roads aren't that great either since its strewn with salt and leaf litter. It's also muck spreading season on the farms so back roads are caked with mud... Don't try go tearing arse and late braking into your favourite bend because it'll be full of unexpected unplesantaries!

Thank GOD i've got sat nav on the Iphone... the moment I found out I was in south wales, I wanted to GTFO ASAP! Razz... Monmouth welcomed me with a light shower so I knew I had to get out.

Yep I got lost twice but managed to find my way somehow, spotted a few police cars as well and even ended up behind a camera van

I always consider 'the season' to start in March. But I guess any day where it's mild and reasonable is fair game for getting out and having a bit of fun on a bike Cool

Having sorted out a small problem with my NSR250 in the morning, (See my thread in the workshop for details), I took her out for a blast this afternoon. Huge grin factor on that bike! Very Happy
I had been riding the CBR (now undergoing repairs), since then I've been tearing around the countryside on my DRZ.
Bloody hell fire the NSR is so small, it's like riding a toy! Shocked
It's not uncomfortable, it just feels so very, very small! Laughing
It's got a powerband the size of a gnat chuff, nothing till 8k then a right good kick up the arse! Cool

Nopes, its the pre-season.

Bit like pre-cum. Annoying and misleading. The good stuff happens later.

Getting dribs and drabs of reasonable weather here and there - just makes riding a little more interesting than riding in the dark all the time. Nice to see the afternoons are getting longer as well.

What do you call the tell tale signs? I have never really spotted one (maybe I'm just lucky, probably blind though Laughing )

Oh and I agree on the mud thing, absolutely caked in it on the back roads.

Arrow They're usually your typical compact executive cars/fleet cars - so 3 series, skoda octavias, saabs. Most are a plain colour - Silver, maroon, black.
Arrow 2 occupants - sometimes can be identified by white uniforms and black stab vests
Arrow No rear dealer sticker
Arrow Potentially extra aerials on the roof
Arrow Strobe lights on the parcel rack OR built into the rear bumper

But on notorious routes, they can be trick cars like R32 golfs, Imprezzas, Evos.

If you find yourself "accidentally" overtaking one, then ride the next few miles like a choir boy.. particularly if you have a loud can!

As an all year round commuter, a few things strange happened on Saturday.

My fingers were for some reason uncomfortably warm. On further looking my heated grips hadn't been turned off since October.

Secondly, I actually leaned over, strange sensation. I typically spend the winter months, obeying speed limits, riding very carefully and upright.

But I do think it's a false dawn. End of March I reckon. Still need to tax/mot the Z but will wait till the weather is better.
