Does anyone have any information on this or know who I can contact?

I have tried Strathclyde Police's (my region) website, but can't find any information on it!

Any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers in Advance

Fran Thumbs Up

I was wondering about this myself. I actually emailed the bikesafe people for some info, but they never did get back to me Confused

I think they had a bike safe day in Renfrew a few months back so they may not be due another one in the area till next year now.

Just spoke to Strathclyde Police who have told me the following;

Bike Safe Courses are a bit of a "Political Hot Potato" (and yes, that's exactly what he said) at the moment because certain CBT trainers are complaining that they are losing business because of these courses due to the police not charging for them.

However, I have been given the name of a guy within the police who organises these courses, but what happens is they take details, i.e. name, bike, tel. no, and once he thinks he has enough names to conduct a course, he contacts the people, so, the contact details are:

Gordon Spence
Tel: 0141-532-6447
He is currently on annual leave but will be available from 16th August onwards.

The chap I spoke to on the number above was very helpful also!! Thumbs Up

That's good to know. I tried Fife Constabulary, but was told it had become too expensive and they'd stopped doing it. The guy was pretty disappointed as he was a biker himself and thought it was a great idea.

Good stuff. I'll give them a call when I get back my holidays then. Did he say how many people he would need before he conducts a course?

It seems to be that the police are doing a good thing, but like most things in life, some other sod sees it as an opportunity to make money!!!

This doesn't make sense, as you have to do your CBT regardless of whether you do Bikesafe or not.

I think what he meant is as for "Safety Training" the companies that do CBT's etc., think they should be making money out of running additional safety courses!!! Me thinks anyway!! Confused
