I was in Hein Gerike today looking at 'budget' helmets for under £150.

I tried on a HJC in M and S and the S seemed to fit perfectly. I also tried on the same sizes in AGV and neither fitted at all.

After reading the modle name of the HJC i came to research prices on the internet but cant remember it now!

In HG they were £149.99. They had 3 or 4 colours - red or blue in a pretty pattern or a black one with shiney bits on.

I THINK that the model might have ended in 15 and only one i can find with 15 is the FG-15 but i can not find this in the black shiney scheme on the internet. The prices for the red/blue ones are also from £60! Thats some mark up by HG if its the same one!

Anyone able to lend a hand in finding the lid?

Thumbs Up Laughing Embarassed

Found it!

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HJC-FG-15-PRISM-FULLFACE-MOTORCYCLE-MOTORBIKE-HELMET-SM-/270366071532?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Helmets&hash=item3ef312daec#ht_3387wt_1190

Are these any good? What is wind/road noise like?

I have that carbon one, been using it daily for a couple of years or so (there are later models but I have the one pictured) and now it's at the end of its life. Chin curtain very worn, visor bracket on one side is very loose, vents don't work, it's pretty windy...

But I'd still be tempted to get another. Extremely light and looks cool, love having an internal visor, and not too expensive.

I do believe (though I could be wrong) that the current carbons from HJC don't have the sun visor, which is ashame.

I currently have an HJC ZF-10 in the 'strike' scheme. It's quite comfy, but not very quiet I find, could just be me though.

I'm going to look at Shark, KBC or AGV helmets when it comes to replacing this one. My last helmet was a HJC CS-12, basic helmet as I needed one cheap so I could do my CBT, replaced it with my ZF-10 within about 4months as it got on my nerves and the foam started to lose its comfort.

"black one with shiny bits on"?

are you talking about the IS-16 lily?

you will find different prices on them as they're old now, along with the strike and the cyclone

I had a HJC a few years back, first six/eight months it was perfect but then the cheek pads started to compress resulting in wind noise, apart from that it wasn't a bad helmet, most of them come in two shell sizes aswell so check on that as you don't want the massive size as you look like a match...

Apart from that I'd have another... Thumbs Up

I have an FG 15 in Elbows II colour scheme, got it for £100 from lidsdirect last summer.

Its a good lid for the money, comparable to my Arai for wind noise (so not great), but its comfortable, light enough, does the job and does it for nearly a quarter of what i paid for my Arai chaser.

Also if you are a contact lense wearer, this helmet doesn't direct air into your eye balls and dry your contacts out (which in case you hadn't worked it out, blinds you Razz )

This is the lid i like:

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270366071532&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_3387wt_1190

Which is £149.99 in HG.

But i also like this one:

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230585963788&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_637wt_698

Which is £114.99 on eGay.

Which i THINK is the same model just different colours? Can any one confirm this? They are both FG-15's.

All the FG-15s are pretty much the same helmet. Don't bother going for the carbon one unless you are interested in it because of the looks. All the FG15s feel really light.

You can get FG15 helmets for 99 quid online. I got one in grey. You may want something a bit more fancy though. I didn't have any money at the time and just needed something to save my head.

They are top helmets for the price. Very light, comfy and affordable.

Anyone who's had or tried on a HJC FG-15, could you tell me what the visor opening is like?

I watched a review of a HJC CS-R1 lid and the visor only had two open positions, fully up or halfway.. with my current lid I tend to ride with it open "one click" to give a couple of mm gap unless i'm over 50mph.

Don't know why but I quite like the Vol-Lez one.. apart from the massive HJC logos.. are they painted in or are they stickers? Smile

Ive got a FG-15 Elbowz same as bacon above.

Its a good helmet, not too expensive but feels well built. I also bought a dark visor for it.

Its a little looser now that when i bought it but thats just the pads compressing. Reckon it will sort itself out if I could be bothered to take them out and wash them.

With the visor. There are several clicks from closed to open and the first click to open it or fully close it requires more force than the others if you know what I mean. So it doesn't accidentally open. It can also be locked in the closed position.

Out of interest does anyone on here lock their fg15 visor?

It seems like a totally useless function because theres no chance of the visor opening on it's own.

Is it to help keep it shut while rolling down the road?

Nope I dont. If anything I think its more dangerous, I like to be able to open my visor quickly if it starts fogging up, not fumble around with my gloves on for a little unlock clip.
