Lol.

I wonder if Rastamouse will be expanding on some of the ideas of rastafarianism - whether he'll be strictly ital, for example, or whether he'll be inviting his bredren to smoke some i-sense and reason about Babylon kingdom falling?

Probably not.

I wonder if it'll generate the same amount of complaints as if it had been titled 'Islam-a-mouse', for example.

Funny you should say that, because I only found out about it because of a site making complaints that I'd stumbled on.

The general consensus was that it was "racist", but personally I don't see how, it's not like they're taking the piss, in fact I'd say they aren't rasta enough. Which leads me to my next point, if we keep censoring this kind of programming because of 1 or 2 complaints from a viewerbase in the thousands, then how are kids going to learn about other cultures? If I was a kid again I'd much rather learn about it through talking mice than watching another useless "grown up" documentary. Then again I was part of the generation brought up on Thomas the Tank engine.

Rastamouse pisses me off with its shit jafaican accents. But I wont stop my little lad watching it. If anything, being reminded of rastafari culture meant I dug through the back of my CD collection and found some bob marley. So at least some good came of it.

What really really irks me on cbeebies is that childish person on gigglebiz who spends half his time in drag and the other half grooming vulnerable children. I cannot believe the beeb can justify having a les dawson esque cross dresser on a channel aimed at under 7's. Seriously, are 4 and 5 year olds going to get the subtlety of a character named Ann Teak, or are they going to understand why a man is hitching is fake boobs up? If that bloke was genuinely trans-gender, fair enough, you could tell your children he was born in the wrong body... But this turd face seems to do it purely for the kicks of wearing women's clothes!!! How the hell do you explain that one to little'uns?

I know I know pantos have their dames etc, but we don't constantly see them switching back and forth between male and female, or from one archaic stereotype to another! He is a class all of his own!

Waybaloo is cool though, and chuggington! Zingzillas is also very watchable (loved the episode with the Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain!).
