Posted: 12:34 - 16 Feb 2011 Post subject: Going to an interview on a bike |
 |
|
Today i had a job interview so got up this morning got suited up and ready to take the cage.No that was not happening damn thing was blocked in time running low so only choice was the bike.So of i went and turned up at the interview about 5 mins early .Now been told not the best thing to turn up on the bike.Did not even have chance to get my gear of as my name was called as soon as i got through the door.I thought iv'e blown my chances straight away walking into the room helmet in hand still wearing my kit.But as soon as i got in "ah your a biker"was the response from my interviewer and in the corner of my i eye i saw a aria helmet Ok i thought. So after the formal interview questions the conversation turned to bikes.turns out the chap rode gsxr 750 which was parked outside. He then took me outside to look at his bike and a coffe he looked at mine we had a good old chat.
Then the words i was hopeing to hear got said."you can start on monday" ..Not even that he then asked if i would like to join him and his mates for a ride out on sunday. hell yes (i now finally have some biker mates)What a cool way to get to know your new boss........Just very happy so thought i would share..
regards john |

I went to my interview on my bike.
Had to shove all my gear behind the receptionists desk, and she even asked me to give her a ride and that she use to have a boyfriend years ago who use to give her a ride. She had the biggest smile on her face reminiscing this too.
She was like 45 and quite fat, but I still offered her a ride on my bike.
Funny thing was, when I was putting on my leather trousers on after the interview, another manager came in, and jumped looking all spooked at the door, then he said he thought he saw a guy taking some trousers off, and the receptionist said, nah, he's putting them on, we just finished.
Then he said to the receptionsit, your reputatation something? you.

Think the fact that I talked to my boss about motorbikes helped to persuade him to give me the job as well .

I've done it twice and both times was offered the job. I went wearing dress trousers, shirt, tie and my smart 'winter' coat. Had my boots I ride with on and my smart shoes under the netting on the back. Got to the first interview and swapped into my shoes stuffing my boots into the fairing. Walked in with a helmet, started the interview got chatting, manager had bikes, started chatting about bikes. Got a call back and was offered the job.
Second interview I done exactly the same, walked in he pointed out the helmet, asked if it was my own bike. I said yeah, he said I wouldn't have no problem getting to the job then can I start next week.
Infact biking has gotten me a few jobs. Like working for HMRC they were a bit worried about people without transport because of bus links and stuff. They also didn't have anymore room for cars to park either, they mentioned this in the interview. I mentioned I didn't drive and that I have bikes. They had specific bays for bikes that weren't being used so they offered me the job straight away. The other people that got the job aswell were ones that could all get lifts to work. Weird thing is it was winter aswell and really icey, so there was still 20+ of us getting the bus anyway. ____________________ Current: Honda Nsr 125

Bikes at least helped me get my current job.
Walked into the interview lid in hand, suit a bit creased from the gear. Kept forgetting what I meant to say and generally being nervous. Director of the (small/medium sized) company asks how I'd get to work, of course I said by motorbike!
Talked about bikes for half an our of the 45 minute interview. Turns out he also had a GSXR750 but his wife bitched at him until he gave it up to save his ears.
I started later that week |

When I first joined the ranks of biker I was rather intimidate by these leather clad people that only seem to speak to their own kind and have scarey loud machines. This of course has since been proved to be wrong but it is great to see the positives out there.
As with anything yiou have to be careful as a car driver will ask if they have been not selected as a result! Our world is upside down with legal types ____________________ Keep the rubber side down |
