Sorry, posted in wrong forum previously.

Its winter, its sunny, I want to be out playing. Im at work, bored, so im going to cheer myself up and seeking internet approval Laughing Well not so much the latter part, im just bored, fancy reminding myself whats coming up this summer.

First big big was an SV. Been riding for many years though on other tat. Put a double bubble, rear mudguard etc. Was used to travel to london every day.

https://images53.fotki.com/v545/photos/4/48802/2247191/DSC01061-vi.jpg

Then needed a new work hack. So got myself an oil cooled 656cc Bandit S with options added (box, framework etc). Added some minor touches to keep it fresh for work. Mudguard ext, rear hugger, double bubble, new can, bungs, tank protectors, gaymufffs for winter. braved not putting on heated handgrips so far, but do a lot less miles. Half of its life going to london for work, half going 16 miles to work everyday at a new job locally.

https://images36.fotki.com/v1152/photos/4/48802/2247191/Image013-vi.jpg

Then got the bike i'd wanted for years. Dad owned this actual bike, and was gutted when he sold it as I couldn't afford it. It had all the parts I wanted as well. It came back up for sale a year later for less money, I snapped it up. Knowing the history on these bikes is important.

https://images49.fotki.com/v394/photos/4/48802/2247191/P1010079-vi.jpg

Now has a carbon tank surround, plus lots of other carbon bits on it.

As for the old mans current crop of bikes...

Well he had a Tornado, got knocked off it by someone jumping red lights. Spent 4-5 years recovering (broken thigh/hip in 20 places, snapped shoulder muscles, hernias, all sorts Sad ). Before he could even walk again, he bought a MV 312. Spent shed loads on carbon, seat re-trim etc.

https://images20.fotki.com/v390/photos/4/48802/3972631/Dadsbike-vi.jpg

https://images27.fotki.com/v983/photos/4/48802/3972631/MV2-vi.jpg

Didn't like it, too top heavy, so sold it, and bought my current Tornado. Then an LE became available to him, so he sold the Tornado Tre, bought the LE (150 ever made worldwide, peice of art. All carbon, titanium, magnesium, quick release wiring loom etc). He still has it 4 years later. And has taken it out on track.

Seat unit of an LE, and standard Tornado.

https://images14.fotki.com/v388/photos/4/48802/3972631/Nelli5-vi.jpg

Who would have thought 3 years later, that i'd still have the black bike, i'd own the middle bike, and all 3 were in the family still.

Some more of them together.. Look similar, TOTALLY different.

Love this shot, carbon weave under the tank.

And some of my dads other bikes. His other pride and joys. Concourse condition!!!!

Hope that bored you enough for a few minutes.

As for Nelly, yes its perfectly reliable. Despite what some press may say. There are recalls, its just the factory doesn't ahve the finances to hide their recalls like certain large Jap manufactures Wink Just very thirsty thats all Laughing

Always enjoy looking at members bikes.

I've never really looked into Benellis, but they seem to be some of the best priced bikes out there at the moment. Very nice Thumbs Up

Nice bikes. I'd love a Tornado. Money would be the factor with it at the moment. Or lack of.

They may not be everyones cup of tea but I love the things. Thumbs Up

I was gutted not to get a go on the MV. He says it went like an absolute rocket. I think he's injuries at the time stopped him enjoying it. He even keeps talking about selling the LE, but im not allowing that Laughing

As for my Nelly, its a great bike for the road. Nice torque curve for midrange umph out the bends. Its about as quick as a modern 600SS, but will loose out to those pesky R6's top end Crying or Very sad Its not good on fuel, but the induction noise it makes it immense. I think prices will slowly rise as theres no green/silver ones left, but 2nd hand they are hanging around the £3.5k mark. Theres a couple of LE's still for sale around the £13k mark for the rich folk.

Some vids:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwJYqAmybLg

Some flybys after 1min 15sec odd.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8_qIOzJacU

And some more of the MV

And I dont get what it is with Benelli's.

Don't really like them, myself.

Anyway, great pics Thumbs Up

I personnally wasn't keen on the seat finish. Didn't like the bulge, but its alcantara. I'd go leather myself. In fact i've already designed a seat, just bout having it made up.

I think with the Benelli, you either "get it" or you don't. But like Ducatis, you either get the fuss, or just see them as an over-priced designer label.

Old man also has a Kwak Vx 1500 cruiser thing with custom paintwork and such to to travelling on.

My plans are to sell the Bandit later this year to fund a car for work. Its done me well, but after 10 years all weather commuting, well I want a seat and some heaters Laughing

After though, once weddings, double glazing and such is all sorted, I'd like to get myself a dedicated track bike.

See your dads got the twin discs on that Z1b. My uncles got the original single disc which may aswell be made out of cake Laughing
Needless to say, he doesn't ride it much for fear of not being able to stop!
Tis' a nice bike though, just a shame it cant really be enjoyed Confused

Aren't Benelli's rather cheap, ~£6k or so?

I'd love one, they look superb and aren't very common.

I'm jealous of all the bikes!

You sure about the Z900 disks? Im pretty sure they came with two. The calipers were mounted the wrong side of the forks so he had to convert them to the correct position. Are you sure your not thinking of the Z750? He's even had special parts made from kawasaki in Japan specificaly for this bike. Took a few years.

Edit just checking, the 750 had a single front disk, 900 had two.

He rides them all. In fact, if anyones going to the show in Kent on the 7th August, or heading up to the Fest 1000 bikes at Mallory in July, we'll be there (Benellis at Fest 1000 bikes, and his two classics at Romney). This year is Benellis 100th Birthday, so theres quite a lto going on this year around the UK and in Italy. Should have a good stand of classic and modern benellis on show (Benellis had a 6 cylinder SEI model).

Ace - The Tornados' were £12k when they came out circ 2002/3. Bear in mind a 2002 Honda CBR, or GSXr... Looks wise, the bike was miles ahead. This was when the WSB was still a 750cc class and thats what the bike was made for (like the Petronis triples). It showed a few times via Peter Goddard in the WSB in 2002, but the game had moved on, it ws now IL4 1000cc so after a few races the programme was binned. Shame as it was a far better bike than the Petronis machines. The design is the same bike, times moved on, but you can get them brand new on the road for £6k yeah. I mean, my Bandit only cost a bit less than that brand new Laughing Undiscovered gem really if you don't want to be just another screaming IL4 1000cc jap machine. They just dont do anything for me.

As far as i know/have been told the 900's were single disc as standard (Hence why my uncles only has one). Twin discs were an upgrade which was actually quite expensive Shocked
I was watching a video on youtube about the z1 vs the newer zephyr and they mentioned it on there.

I could still be wrong though, i'm just saying what i see Laughing .

My uncles is the US spec one, perhaps the US and the UK ones were different.
Although saying that, it looks like your dads has the US spec rear mudguard too, apparently the UK one was massive Shocked

Anyway.... the point is, its a dam lovely bike Drooling

EDIT: Actually, which year is it? The one i'm on about is the '75 and earlier. perhaps the later ones had twin discs Confused

I think he has mentioned about something American on it, i'll ask him. Same with the front brake setup, im not sure myself also, but im sure he'll know, he's obsessed Laughing

Im meant to have a crack on both the classics this year. Quite excited really as I've never ridden a classic (on those tiny tyres too Laughing ), and the CBX engine is meant to feel fantastic Very Happy

I plan to get my Nelli out on track again as well this year, can't beat a bit of track action to fully explore the bike (and my) potential Smile
