Does anyone know what roughly 2006 YBRs are worth privately?

Surprisingly, it's not listed on Parkers or Wisebuyer. I know the YBR don't hold their value nearly as well as CGs, but its still a learner legal 4T 125 so i can imagine the price will still be highish?

Parker doesn't mean anything really, without sounding horribly obvious, try looking through the classifieds on Autotrader and Pistonheads as they will give you a rough idea

Or get the glass' guide Thumbs Up

Autotrader suggests £1000-1450 depending upon condition/mileage/etc.

Condition is everything, but the 4-5 year old examples I've been turning up on e-bay.... I'd put a guide price of £800 bottom book, £1000 average, £1200 Top-Book. Presuming BB was private sale, higher miles, a little care worn, but otherwise complete, road-worthy, taxed, tested, and 'fit for purpose'. Top book, being for something low miles, very tidy, complete, well looked after, nice and shiney, with loads of good providence, or a dealer-price with some kind of warranty. BUT talking ball-park, and this time of year, I may be £100 or so over pricing, but I'd expect that to pick up a bit as the season winds up.
I have spotted a couple under bottom book, and one was recently offered privately, less than a year old, bend forks and dented tank, unrecorded, for I think it was £750, which could have made a cute fixer-upper for some-one. Conversely spotted salvage dealers asking a grand for older ones that look beyond hope!
Anyway, what you looking at to ask?

YBR's are more expensive than CG's from when I was looking for a commuter. 800 was the minimum I saw, but most were over a grand. Not many of them for sell while CG's were plentiful and cheaper.

I wonder how much my '05 YBR with 36'000 miles on is worth now, has Motad stainless exhaust/downpipe, screen, Givi top box, braided brake hose, Michelin Pilot Sporty tyres, some spots of rust and wear/tear (scratches etc in places, but cosmetic)... still runs like a trooper. Thinking

That is because YBR's have been round about 5 years and CG's where around for over 30 years.

No deal - that's what parkers value it at brand new.

Well, sort of. The CG125 entered serial production in about 1976, but it was an 'eastern-market' model. In the UK, 250 Learner-Laws meant 125 class wasn't popular, and Honda had an overwhelming catalogue of tiddlers, and while the 250 Learner-Laws were in force, for economy bikes, folk went for a 175 or 200. When the 125 Laws came in in the UK, being a 125 it was in the same insurance group as the sports 125's, so people tended to go for the two-stroke 100's, rather than teh CG. Wasn't until the early-min '90's when they had changed the licence groupings, insisting you did your test on a 120cc bike for a full licence, the emissions regs were forcing the 2T's out of production, and they rationalised the insurance ratings to account for more than just capacity, that the CG started gaining any popularity in the UK. Hence most in this country are 90's models.
The 'Legend' claiming their heritage back to their first manufacture in the mid 70's is largely 'spin' by Honda Marketing... the same as they claim Montesa's trials heritage as thier own, because they now own them.... The bike isn't the 'learner-legend-of-decades', and the idea that they are 'indestructible and go forever' is a little exaggerated, given the state that so many CG's less than ten years old have got into in the hands of UK Learners! But has propped up the second hand values pretty well.
Personally, I think the YBR is possibly the slightly better bike, and certainly without the 'cult' status of the CG, better Value for Money.
