Fecking 12 mile diesel spill!!!

I have a 12 mile commute from my house to work in the morning. On joining the main road, I noticed a shimmer in the middle of the road and a strong smell of diesel. Usually, the main road had a lighter patch in the middle and 2 darker patches where the car tyres sit. This shimmer covered the entire mid section (about 2-3 foot) where I normally position the bike.

I avoided it and ended up driving like a ped rider.

The patch literally lasted the entire 12 miles and every time I had to cross I felt the bike get a little unsteady at the backend.

What the hell can cause a 12 mile diesel spill?! Did someone stick a hole in the bottom of a tanker for a larf?

Very pissed off as the cagers kept thinking I was pulling over to them past.

Could be someone who's lost their sump plug. Or has a hole in their tank.

I've followed big diesel/oil spills before and found a car parked at the side of the road with the owner looking in the bonnet and scratching his head.

Worst one I saw was a telescopic crane that shat its hydraulics all over a 1 mile stretch of road in York. I had to go up on the pavement and paddle the bike along at walking pace. You couldn't even stand up on the road itself.

The refuse lorry regularly leaves a trail of oil drops from my village to and from its depot. So thats both sides of the road making up most of my commute. Over time they coalesce into a long streak to make sure I ride carefully.

There was a 3 mile streak of diesel on the outside lane of M8 from Central Glasgow right out through the east end of the city the other day. I now have a real passionate hate for diesel and oil spills as there is really no need for this amount of fuel to be on the road.

If an injector pipe goes it can cause diesel to be sprayed all over the place and leave a 12 mile slick !
