Where do i start... My son bought a bike last week and this is where the problems start.. It is a piaggio nrg with a gilera runner pm racing engine in it or so im told. First thing is the wires that come from the stator have been cut and so are the wires to the cdi unit so i need to connect them. The problem is that the coulors are not all the same....could anyone shed a bit of light on what colours are what wire(i.e blue/live grey/ ignition) if i list wires for both the runner engine and the cdi that im assuming is from the nrg...I would appreciate any help however small..


GILERA RUNNER ENGINE WIRES ARE:

Yellow
White
Green
Grey
Blue
Black (but this seems to be some sort of insulation/coating as a small break shows red wire inside and is attached to a small plastic box i am assuming is the ignition pick up)


PIAGGIO NRG CDI WIRES ARE:

White
Yellow
Red
Blue/Red
Grey
Green

I have been tempted to connect the obvious wires but is no point if i still have wires remaining.

Having a bit of trouble sourcing an NRG wiring diagram, but here's one for the runner.

looks like it should be right...

So it looks like your black wire with the red wire underneath goes through to the ignition, and the little plastic box should be a fuse.


Cant do much more with this till someone can find a wiring diagram for the NRG.

I'll edit this post more as i learn more.

The yellow wires join together, one comes from the reg/rec and goes to the alternator.

There should be a red wire (the one with the black cover) from the engine side also, that goes from the genny to the ICU so i'm thinking the Red cable (with the black cover) goes into the grey cable. right next to it (the one with the matching blue cover)

Also, the blue cable looks to go to the Coil... that'll need to be extended quite a bit. The coil should just ground off the frame.

The green wire from the alternator should join to the ignition switch, should connect to the blue/red wire as that's your ignition one from the reg/rec

So that's the green, blue, red(black), grey and yellow wires from the Engine taken care of.

Also, the yellow, and the blue/red cable on the reg/rec side taken care of.

Anyone that knows more about my limited knowledge of wiring could help, i'm not doing too well with this, doing my best though.

I don't do electrickery.
The reason I asked for pics is for someone who is good with bike electrics, it might help them.

The engine is a pm racing what was out of another bike (my sons friend) but the bike its in now is a piaggio nrg . Why they have been cut so short is beyond me Rolling Eyes Like I said in the first post my son bought this bike

The thing is that WHY WOULD anyone wonder why the wires were cut. Im asking for help and infomation on how to wire them back up again?!?!?! Rolling Eyes

Quick update!! I have power to lights and starter motor so i must of done something right!!! but i have no spark from the ht lead or sparkplug??? Any suggestions???

So you can turn the ignition key and it'll all light up?

Have you connected that wee blue cable to the coil?

Make sure the coil is against metal, not paint, so that it can ground properly, and make sure the cable is properly connected.

Make sure the spark plug actually works... and that the HT connection isn't corroded.

Hi dunc!

Well so far i have yellow from stator to yellow from loom,

Red (with black coating)/ Grey

Blue from stator / ground to the frame

Green from stator/ blue & red from loom

I have progressed as the startor motor works (didn't before).

I am going to update post with some more pictures of the coil as there does not seem to be a spark to the ht lead? have checked the plug and gave it a bit of a clean with a wire brush, wondering if the coil pack is faulty? anyway to test it?

Just stuck my electrical screwdriver into the plug that connects to the coil and when cranking the motor the Green wire pulses very dim so there is obviously to this point. Not knowing a lot about this and correct me if im wrong but is it the coil that whacks the voltage up to create the spark? or is the power to weak? unfortunately i do not have a multimeter.

In your third picture, see the little blue wire?

If you have a multimeter, check if you get any voltage through that wire when you press the starter motor... i'm pretty sure that's the cable that's supposed to go into your coil.

Never seen a connection like that on a coil... usually only have 1 or 2 cables...

Someone else shall have to help with this bit, I'm not sure how that one works.
