About 45mph. It will do no harm to the engine as long as the carb is re-jetted to suit when you de-restrict the exhaust.

If i get my Yamaha Aerox 2009 Derestricted by removing the washer in the variator and cutting of the 'cone shape' in the exhaust, will i need new jets or anything else done to the bike to stop it breaking, and if i get the bike fully derestricted, will i need a sports exhaust aswel?

Thankyou, Mike

Don't forget you'll need an appropriate licence and insurance if you're going on the road.

Isn't that an A1 if the moped goes above 30 Mph plus all the insurance implications of fitting tuning gear.

It's not as simple as just fitting your sports exhaust, you'll have to rejet the carb to suit and then find the correct rollers for your engines now altered power delivery. Get that wrong and you'll have 10 Mph and a knackered engine.

Removing the washers will give you a few Mph extra as it allows the variator to come completely together. Cutting the cone out will also get you more power but not as much as a expansion chamber sports exhaust.

i have an MBK nitro..which is prety much exactly the same as an aerox (yamaha own MBK)

mine will do 40 on a flat (45 downhill and has topped out at 48!!!! zomg!!! Surprised ...although it was vibrating like a giant 48mph dildo)

mine's restricted and am trying to keep it standard...dont wana risk invalidating my insurance should mr plod want to have a word with me.

like some people have said, you will have to make sure it complies with your current license entitlements/conditions, and with your insurance policy...insurance on a provisional will usually follow the same entitlements as your lisence..eg bhp restrictions, so if you increase your speed (which should only be 29mph) or your bhp, you risk invalidating your insurance..which wouldnt be good if the popo pulled you over!

If you have a mbk nitro and it goes 40-45 what modifications have you done?

ive not done any. my brother (who owned it before me) says that MBK are just a bit cheeky and don't follow the rules Twisted Evil
he got it from a bike shop as standard, and used it for his CBT before he brought it.
and he didnt make any mods either...he's more useless with mechanical stuff than i am! Mr. Green

I would imagine it was de-restricted from the very beginning before being sold. Bikes imported into the country are under very strict rules and the euro conformity and all that crap, so must of been done after it arrived in the country.

yeah i guess it could be. i personally think the 30mph restriction law is even more daft than the 50cc at 16 law..once your at 30, there's no UMPH behind you should something happen....even going at 40 on mine, i still feel vulnerable when I'm at top speed

of course something to keep up with traffic flow ideally at 45- 50mph would of been best. But I know there are several arguments for like safety and......yeah i was 16 once (well 17 at the time) and said i wanted a scooter thats practical, quick and not a death trap......... its 15 sodding mph up a hill restricted! sod that

as another forum user said- "they force the most inexperienced riders onto the most dangerous vehicles, that get overtaken and cut up by every tom, dick and HGV"

im hoping to take my full test in a few months (sometime after august when im 17) so i can get off my infernal hairdryer!
the biggest problem for me on my moped is that on the way to college, im forced to ride on a NSL road, which is bad enough at 40, but would be unbearable at 30!
i also go a mile or two out of the way just to avoid another narrower NSL road because whenever ive been along there in the past, ive always had some beamer up my arse or cutting me up after an attempted overtake...tis not good! Thumbs Down Middle Finger
