hello all, the whole Frank Thomas Sports group has gone into administration. This includes, Frank Thomas, BKS and Motrax. They are looking for a buyer and would be sold as a going concern!! 30m in debt and george white owing them 15m, doesn't look too good!!

Phoenix deal ahoy. The administrators will just sell the company back to the owners, debt free, for a pittance. Standard practice these days.

I hope the UK staff didn't get nobbed too hard. Usually when this happens, stories start to flood out about staff not being paid for months, and running up bills on their personal credit cards. Sad

Now that explains why I can no longer get Yoshimoto Anka-D-Manka brake cleaner.

Their textiles weren't too bad for the price I had a set last a couple of years, but they suffered when they lost the GoreTex franchise (or rights, whatever) and had to substitute it for their own membranes.

'apparently' Motrax is to be no more!! BKS and Frank Thomas are to be sold and set up again as two separate companies. Not sure how true this is but shame none the less.

Brian the original owner of BKS will probably end up with that bit back in his ownership, he still owns the rights to making the original high quality made to measure side of BKS, the pakistani suits were shit, covered in tailoring chalk lines or pen marks where they were supposed to be sewn up, excess glue marks and uneven lettering and logo's, I heard a few dealers forced FT to take them back by not paying for them as they were on extended credit or return LOL, dealer by me was doing the last few for £400 instead of £600 with the £140 gloves free and still had trouble shifting them

That's outsourcing for you. The samples are decent quality, you get assurances out the wazoo, but when it comes to actual production it's done by three chimps and Cousin Sixtoes. Seen it again and again in the software industry. Sad

No surprise there then most of their stuff was rubbish but some were great, just a pity they did not road test their stuff if they did the road testers must have been crap. For instance a few years a go I bought some gloves they were warm and fitted great, but they were too warm that while taking them off the lining came out with your hand took them back 3 times and got a refund.I bought a jacket £40 from bmf was £150 but rain leaks in the arms and get a torrent when stopped like a river on the motorway services floor lol.But the jacket is warm and good just not that far off from being great just a pity they did not spend to much time on the quality side of things.

and sacked all the staff, which really means they've paid next to fuck all for all the stock and have no interest in keeping it going, they're just going to sell off all the remaining stock through their network

Ouch. OK, I'm genuinely surprised - I fully expected a phoenix deal. That's an epic fail by the old owners.
