As i am possibly looking for a new bike I would like a sports bike however my 11 year old still want to come on the bike, however he preferred it when i had a top box on the old bike as it gave him support and made him feel safer with it so is there another option like a small backrest type thing or the like?

There used to be a modular rack that would replace the grabrail (possibly Renntec) where you could slot in either a small loop for a grab rail or a larger loop for mounting luggage on that also doubles as a back rest :-

You may want to get a grab rail as it obviously gives support however it gets him used to doing it when he is older. Hell, I go on bikes now with no grab rail. However, it is fcuking scary though!

Or, just get a top box but I think they may look a bit silly... But if its more comfort for your son, just get it!
