A good mate of mine has just finished fine tuning his lil scoot and I advised he go for a dyno run for a laugh... He said it would make about 30bhp bearing in mind it's only around 94cc now and my GN250 makes 21...
Now I did expect it to push a fair bit of power for a scoot but he shown me the results and from what I can see his peak HP at 15,000ish rpm is 25bhp...
Okay, granted, he's spent the best part of 2 grand on the lil thing in parts but fucking hell =/ it comes to something when I'm actually being left by a piaggio zip on the motorway.

I'll have the last laugh cause he'll probably have to rebuild it again in 2 weeks

Why would you waste 2 grand tuning a scooter? For what he paid to tune and buy it he could have an NSR with money left over... lol.

I've said that to him lots. Granted, I want to tune a lil scoot myself, his bike is why I want to... but not to that point.
Every time I say why dont you spend the money and get somethin bigger he just comes out with "they dont look nice"
Considering his scoot is ugly as feck yet he thinks it's amazing.

£2k for tuning parts on a 100cc scooter?

Each to his own I suppose but I know where there's a 'busa advertised for £2600 with no takers as yet.

25bhp at the rear wheel, or estimated at the crank?

Dynos have to use voodoomaths to estimate crank power, and it's only ever that - an estimate. It'd be very easy to get the calculation laughably wrong with a belt driven scooter.

I was chatting to someone on Youtube and they said that BHP is usually higher than what is stated because if a Ram Air or something? This was for cars though.

Anything like that for bikes? Or is a Dyno pretty much accurate?

Yes on bikes with ram air systems, but most modern dynos have a fan that simulates ram air anyway, so he's sort of talking nonsense.

It is slightly true yeah, Kawasaki state 2 power figures for the ZX10R one with ram air and one without

Not exactly, I highly doubt a fan on a dyno can simulate the ram air forces when a bike is doing 150mph+, that would require an air tunnel?

So he is kind of correct, though dynos do at least try and simulate it, I doubt its going to be anything like the real thing.

No but they have a tube with a powerful fan in it that directs air ONLY to the ram air intake, and so I'd guess you don't need a wind tunnel to add the few PSI of air pressure you require.

Ram-air itself doesn't even produce 1psi of air flat out on a fast bike.

Perfectly feasible. Self and a mate did the full bollocks on a DT125LC and that produced a genuine 34bhp. OK, it did go bang in a particularly spectacular manner eventually, but it was brilliant fun while it lasted. Left everything for dead away from the lights, more or less Laughing

The DT had about 20 or 21 genuine horses derestricted. We then tuned it to complete (and ultimately destructive) buggery Laughing I knew we needed a titanium rod - but sadly getting one made would have cost about the same as a (then) brand new DT Laughing

Still gay.

Can I just ask one thing though; why does your sig say you want a Gilera when you have an A2 license?
