Not sure if there Chinese or Japanese, but they always have some mad bikers that can control the bikes in mad moves with ease.
People over here say they can do it, but I'm yet to witness it ____________________ CBT: 04/2010 -> Theory: 09/2010 -> MOD1 & 2: 10/2010 (That's right baby, both on same day)

The name of the youtube user would suggest Japanese, but regardless, how I wish I could have that much control. It is definitely a goal in life for me to be able to do that

I'm actually wondering if he has traction control on that ... winding it up like that at full lean will normally end in tears!?!? ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |

Good point and having read a little into it last night, they're not allowed in that kind of competition anyway. Must still be damned sticky tyres though. |
I bet they are, you would need to have a lot of confidence in the front end.
I haven't gone into any depth, but all these clips seem to have a few things in common; the good ones ride bikes with a shortish wheelbase, a fairly narrow rake angle on the forks, upright bars and wheels that, if they aren't exactly the same, are very similar diameter and width.
They also don't change gear very often, so gearing must be all important.
It does look very skillful, but I reckon a lot of it is bike set up. ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........

Oh indeed... But I reckon you need balls to do that!
I'm very good at the low speed stuff (I've done loads of practice in deserted car parks over the years) and do crank it over a fair bit in car parks at times but jeez, I've never been able to get anywhere near those angles of lean at those speeds without the back end stepping out.
If I even had half that guys skills/balls I'd be a very happy chap! |
I reckon a big part of it is the tyre size; if it isn't closely matched, front to back, then you're in trouble.
You also have to keep in mind that, knowing the Japs, they aren't riding on some old car park, it's probably been washed and swept clean and is as near a perfect surface as you can get (although I have seen a couple of clips were the surface has damp patches and differing types of tarmac). ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........
