I'm in urgent need of a welder in or around Chepstow. My local garage has quoted £250+vat which I can't afford at the moment. The car failed it's MOT on several things which I've done the work myself to save a few quid. With the welding I've been told the rear axle and petrol tank need to come off which I don't mind doing myself, but I don't know anyone local with a welder that can do that part for me.

Any help would be great. As I said this is rather urgent as I need the car on the road as soon as possible.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section

Your right it will be a lot cheaper if you do it this way. I took an an exhaust off an old bike to get a 1cm square hole welded.
I took it to my local garage and they plated it for £12.

Just take off the components you need welding and take them to any local mechanics garage.

I just googled motor mechanics in Chepstoe, most will weld stuff for you.

I suspect that the removal of the tank and rear axle suggests the floor needs welding. Might be a bit awkward to carry in.

It's gone to the garage now as my other car has a bit of a nasty water leak (well more of a spray when I press the accelerator.

I was having a look on ebay at welders and there were some on there from £50 upwards.... Oh well.
