Hey, viewing a CB400 tomorrow..

Quote:
THE BIKE IS A 1993 K,REG. FIRST UK REGISTERED 2001
ONLY 12700 KMH
MOT UNTIL 11/07/2011
TAX UNTIL 31/06/2011

Is there anything to look for? Brother has one with 28,000 miles on there... but this one is exceptionally low.

all i can think of is make sure the valve cover gasket and head gasket are all ok and not leaking as your looking at £100 to replace those. Disks are nearly impossible to find at reasonable cost, although i heard early hornet discs fit but im not sure on that.

Apart from that it's pretty much check the usual stuff, as far as i know they have no common fault's as they were built to last, the beauty of 90's honda's Very Happy

what CB400? Not a super four by chance?

https://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/Gallery/Honda%20CB400%20Super%20Four%2096.jpg

If so check the charging system works, rec/reg are common problems. If its low mileage then I wouldn't be concern of anything else other than the general consumbles/tyres etc.

Parts are hard to come by for this model unlike the CB1

You're still right about the clocks though. £120+ for a new set at least. I have successfully rebuilt my clocks on the Hornet with other bits though so I can at least keep the mileage, the CB400 is very similar in that respect.

If i remember rightly there is a lot of wiring enclosed within the front light unit. Not sure if this would cause a problem to changing the lights as i never done it.

As said reg/rec are problem but cheap enough to get hold of 1.

Very nice bikes though and loud good with an ART can on.

Viewed bike, was really clean.

Nothing bad to say about it, new tyres, c+s are perfect, bike was spotless.

Not asking a massive price, but need to knock him down a little... It's an older model and quite a bugger to start (still on old plugs looking at history; he has receipts for oil, bulbs... But no plugs.. He said they are still the same)

I'll call him up tomorrow!
