How many of you take your bike(s) on holiday with you?
Where are the best/worst places you've taken your bike on holiday?
I've not taken a bike on holiday yet because i've spent most of my two riding years on a 2T trailbike with an unhealthy appetite for coolant, but each time I've gone without it I've suffered withdrawal symptoms - maybe I just ride too much??
Any hints on holiday riding for when i get my ER5 on the road (I probably wouldn't take it abroad.) |

Hmmm... live in Southampton, that's about 4-6 tankfuls of petrol to Scotland.
Are the roads any good up there, e.g. emptiness / surface quality / scenery / fun factor? Wouldn't mind some pics ____________________ "I'm gonna get free, Ride into the sun..."

If you're in Southampton is it not just as easy for you to go abroad?
I am Scottish and can still appreciate what a beautiful country I live in, I would definitely say come up to Scotland on holiday, it's gorgeous, with lots of gorgeous lovely people!!! ____________________ I have an asshole tolerance level of -10

How about trying Wales and then a trip over to Eire. Haven't been to Ireland myself but a friend keeps telling me to get my @ss in gear and go as it's good roads and friendly people. ____________________ ...and the whirlwind is in the thorn trees, it's hard for thee to kick against the pricks...

I lived in New Zealand for about two years and honest, when you're on the South Island you could easily swear you were in Scotland, they are two of the most beautiful countries out I reckon!! Would go back there in a second!
Even the North Island in New Zealand up in the Bay of Islands, looks like Scotland, only it has sun! ____________________ I have an asshole tolerance level of -10

You could combine the two, sail over from Holyhead.
The roads in Ireland are pish by the way, full of potholes, overbanding and crumbly edges..Interspersed about every ten miles with a couple of miles of 'Eurosquandering' pristine highway (hard work on a sports tourer, but the type of road a supermoto lives for). It is a beautiful country though, we went to Donegal as a group last summer. Stayed in an independant hostel for £9 per night. Every morning we went down the the town centre on the bikes to get breakfast and were invited to a party .
If you want decent roads, get yourself up to the Highlands of Scotland, anywhere north of Fort William is fine. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |
