 |

Hi
I've just purchase these from Bandit Mania
Clicky
They told me that its just plug and play, no need to rejet. (i have no idea what re-jetting is btw but i know its something i will have to pay for, and thats reason enough for me not wanting to do it lol)
However, a couple of people have told me that i might lose compression? (once again, what the effect of losing compression is, i don't know, but it sounds bad)
I don't care about power and speed, i just like the look, and i want my engine to stay healthy. Am i going to have to get this re-jetted before i can use them, or will they be okay to just carry on as normal.
I will be using 2 BlueFlame Evo Twin outlet exhausts with the baffles removed.
Any helps would be appreciated muchly!

Quite why you would lose compression when you've just fitted a short exhaust system is beyond me. Were these people drunk or pub mechanics.
The only way you would lose compression would be if your piston rings were worn or you have a leaky valve in the engine etc not by fitting a exhaust.
Easy way to know is fit the exhaust then do a plug chop, then you'll know if you need to rejet or not. Just read your post again..........jets in the carb control the various stages of fuel mixture throughout the rev range. When you change a component on the engine you sometimes need to resize the jets due to the increase exhaust/airflow coming out of or into the engine to make the fuel mixture correct. Running a rich or lean mixture can cause bad running of the bike and running lean is especially bad for an engines health.
You can check your mixture by the colour of your spark plugs. White is lean, Black is rich and tan/coffee is correct.
Google plug chop. ____________________ Current ride - Yamaha MT-07 |

Using fully baffled slip ons, the back pressure may not be effected by thier re plumbing, with straight thru's, I'd not be so sure.
Did they confirm that the bike wouldn't have to be re jetted in conjunction with your choice of slip on? ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

Wow, i am so confoos. I have much to learn i see. But my bike isn't turbo'd so I'm okay there. And i have no idea what all those numbers these guys are quoting are. i don't really care about speed or power, i just don't want my engine to be fried after a few months of using my new exhausts!
Ghey, the exhaust pipes came today and one was oval quite how that happened i don't know.
So I've sent them back and have to wait again (hopefully Banditmania don't decide to be dickheads and try and say i did it or something, But they seem reasonable enough so i hope not) |
