how far in 5 days?

Hi guys

Now I've ridden a bike for many years but never done any proper touring. Its difficult tfor me to get any proper time off work, but, by chance, i have five days off next week. I fancy a mini adventure so was just wondering has anybody got any ideas of a mini tour i could do in 5 days. Im half tempted just to swing my leg over and see how far i can get, but obviously i want to make sure i can get back in time! I want to go abroad really and if poss, dont want to stop in france or spain. Any ideas much appreciated!

Black forest looks good...rac routeplanner says about 11 hours one way which is deffo do-able.

Nah i usually go much further a field over a longer period.

My thinking was that, you'll have to do over 400miles for 3 days just so you can have 2 days to rest and visit places, see things, party and enjoy the culture.

Avoiding highways, it's not easy to do 400miles and have much time for anything else.

If you have only 5 day's I would just stay in France. It's a big place.

Leave Calais and make your way to Poitier's going through Rouen, and Le Man on your way. 313 mike's first day

Second day Poitier's to Pau. Taking you through the Borden area. Then swing east on to Pau, 312 mile's

Third day Pau to Montelimar. You will be looking for Toulouse and then on to Millau. where the bridge is. Cut across the national park on to Montelimar. 374 mile's

second to last day Montelimar to Dijon 225.

And last day Dijon to Calais. Cutting through Reim's.371 mile's

All the mileage are makable in a day's and you will see a lot on your travels. Rode a good few of these road's and I've in-joyed my self every day.

Are there any sites places etc you'd want to see? You can get to most of Europe in a day so can reach out to some pretty far away (i.e cheap) countries.

Most I have done in a day in Europe was Warsaw to Rotterdam, which meant a massively sore backside - based on that you could get into the Czech pretty easily and have a few days knocking back 20p a pint beer (in the countryside, pragues a bit pricey), see some great places. If you pushed yourself you could make back on the beer what the petrol cost!

I did a 5 day round trip:

UK => France => Germany => Austria => Czech Republic (Prague night life is good ) => Germany => Belgium (windy) => France = > UK.

It was knackering but good fun - the original plan was France, maybe a bit of Germany.

Well, thanks guys for the info. In the end i did a round trip stopping in amsterdam, bonn and bruges. Now this might not seem like a big feat but i did it on my new hyosung gt250r!!

So....how did it go? Well, amazingly, the little bike coped with dignity. My respect for ths machine has increased dramatically over the last few days. I did 1200 miles in 5 days, did not miss a beat, 60 miles to the gallon, handled luggage, sat comfortably at 70-80mph for 5-6 hours at a time and didnt give me sciatica. I originally sold my fireblade and bought this bike to make it easier to go out with my wife whilst she still rode on a CBT, but i may keep it longer after this!
