i'm new to the biking world, and just fixing up a bike at the moment, to get it ready for the summer (when i sit my CBT).
Basically its regarding the fuel tap. My bike has a 3 way tap, a pic of a full tank, a 'O' and an almost empty tank.

now just to check, im guessing the full tank means the main tank, the 'o' is the shut off and the almost empty tank is the reserve tank?

sorry if this seems like an obvious question Sad

thanks

Yup,

When you get a bigger bike they usually have a vacuum tap. (Older ones anyway, new ones have a fuel pump)

So they would have "Prime" instead of off, as when the engine isnt running the vacuum shuts the fuel off.

Smaller 125 bikes though normally just have a basic off position.

Yes they put pictures on them now because abbreviated words like on, off and res are too complicated for people migrating over from four wheels. Of course, it still catches some out...
