newbies post got me thinkin.

Im still on my CBT but havent got any L's on - how likely are the pigs to bollock me for that as well as the speeding if I get GATSO'd??

And cant you pay £60 instead of £30 and 3 points if you do get done?

If you get done for speeding, it's £60 not £30!
So no plates ontop of that could get expensive (and alot more points!).

The fine for speeding at the minute is £60 and 3 points but there are changes being mentioned where the penalty is MUCH worse.

If you do not have L plates on you are fundamentally riding without insurance as L plates are a pre-requisite for the insurance company to pay out should there be an accident. Hence V HEFTY fine (i think upto £1000) if you're found without them!

Also - The court MUST order points to be endorsed on the licence according to the fixed number or the range set by Parliament.
For every offence which carries penalty points the court has a discretionary power to order the licence holder to be disqualified. This may be for any period the court thinks fit, but will usually be between a week and a few months
Driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence = £1,000 Discretionary Disqualification and 3-6 penalty points.

When i got pulled over on my scooter when i had no "L" plate on the back i was told the penalty was 60 pounds per L plate not displayed and 3 points on your licence. He let me off with a warning because it was clear the L plate had accidently ripped off Laughing

exact fine system is 60 quid for speeding and 3 points the the same per L plate missing, meaning if your missing both its 120 quid and 6 points on your license a ban!

If your speed is something nuts like 100mph in a 30 they can take you to court to impose much much larger fines and much much increased points, one of the reasons i was so glad a sped camera in my area didnt have film Rolling Eyes 103mph in a 30 zone at 4am Embarassed

Does 6 points on a provisional license/ CBT certificate equal a driving ban? I thought you were allowed 12 points before you got banned??

Regards.

no i think theres something about the first couple years you ride. or all the time when you have a CBT.
I think the same applies to a car, if you get caught doing anything wrong in your first year you get a ban and have to take it again another year. not too sure on this rule so dont quote me ! Shocked

But so ive heard ages ago.

Hi

30 over the limit is an automatic court appearance and an almost certain ban

All the best

someone I know lost his car license (no ban) for doing 56 in a 30- they'd probably lock you up for doing 103! Very Happy

its up to 12 points on a provisional driving licence, when(if) you pass your test the previous points will remain dormant for a certain number of years before they get wiped out. If you get any points during your 2-year 6-point probationary period though and they push you to 6 or more you've had it. Time for a breather! (phew)

AFAIK, if you don't have a licence other than a provisional and CBT, you're not "entitled" to any points. This means they can ban you for anything they would give a licenced driver points for.
