I've done it before and I've forgotten how to get it back again.

My task bar (that black thing that sits at the bottom of the screen) has jumped from being horizontally at the bottom, to running vertically down the right hand side of the screen.

I know, having done it before, that its something stupid to do with dragging it there by mistake.

But when I try to drag it back down again, it just widens across the page and doesn't flip back down to horizontal instead of vertical.

How do I get it back down the bottom?

Right click the task bar -> Properties -> Taskbar location on screen.

At least that's the way in Win7, I'd guess Vista would be similar.

Its not there (in Vista)

I remember doing this (ages ago) on my mother's computer and panicking like hell, but then discovering it was a matter of dragging it a certain way to bring it back down where it belongs.

But today ... everything I try is not working *cries*

But then, my email's up the spout as well (outgoing STMP refusing to send stuff out) *cries some more*

.. and I woke up to a "Inactive SIM" message on my phone, which the man from O2 suggested I turn the phone off and then on ... and it worked

Can you tell I am very low tech today?

This is the day I was going to pull my finger out and get my self-employment mentality back on track for when I chuck in the NHS job. So far I have done exactly nothing more exciting than apologise profusely to an ashtray slave for fucking up his prospective booking.

At least the frickin kettle is working, I can make coffee
*huff*

Look on the bright side. You can still huff, you're not reduced to huffling yet.

I fear the day when I lose the ability to use my S key and am reducing to huffling Smile

Happily, I have just this second found the answer to my problem by searching in the Windows Help menu, a place where I would *never* have thought to look Rolling Eyes

drag to bottom of screen

right click on taskbar and select "Lock Taskbar"
