Not sure about the laws regarding it, however there's a guy with a TL1000 near me who actually sits his kid on the riders seat behind him, buyt in front of the hump, stops the kid falling off at 160mph lol, erm oh and the kid is about... 5/6 years old???

I'm quite sure there is a minimum age, I remember reading something about motorcycle accidents and it saying a certain percentage involved riders carrying underaged pillions.

I mean even if there is no age restriction it's just common sense, to take anyone under 12/13 or the average height of a 12/13yr old on the back of a bike i'd say is stupid.

Some say stupidity, some say neccessity...not everyone has cars...Confused

Also, some kids start riding at about 3/4 years old...ok, so not riding on the road, but still learning about bikes.

OK, Hein-Gericke catalogue page 345...they do a child seat for 3 year olds. Unless they're promoting illegal activity, I don't think that the age restrictions will be *that* strict.

quite, and only having a bike as a mode of transport is no excuse, it's very dangerous and putting a little kid on the back you're putting them at risk as theyre too young to really think about the dangers of it for themselves.

Just because there's a baby seat in a catalogue, doesn't mean it's legal. Are number plate flippers legal? no but you can get em in catalogues, same with plates that don't show up on speed cameras etc..

anyone who wants to ride pillion should do so only if they choose to

and fully understand the consequences of what could happen

and yes i think its bad idea for young kids to ride on them cos they dont understand

but the law says as long as they have a legal safety helmet and can reach the passenger pegs then they can ride on the bike

Err, yeah, and Race cans, yeah?...well, what you seem to have dismissed is they often have some kind of disclaimer with them, like "not for road use", or "for show use only".
...and could you please show me a UK catalogue (from a big-name distributor) that sells plate flippers?

Of course there are illegal goods being bought and sold, but they are often at the discretion of the traders. I don't believe that Hein-Gericke would be selling anything illegal, do you?

And as Goose says, the law only states that the pillion must wear a helmet, and the bike is equipped to accomodate the pillion.

Hi

Fairly certain there is no minimun age limit. However the pillion must be sitting stride the bike with their feet on the footrests (but I dont think the law specifies which way they must be looking Laughing )

All the best

Keith

Do the number plates that dont show up on speed cameras actually work? i always thought they were a bit of a scam... I have seen some bottles of spay on ebay that are supposed to stop cameras from getting a clear picture of your plate.

To be honest I doubt it. Ive not heard of them working.

MCN ran a story bout a guy that fitted an anti gatso button on his handlebars. When pressed, it puts some diesel into the exhaust which creates a huuuge cloud of white smoke. And its supposedly legal too!!

U dont really need to know where they are, just hit the button 'stead of braking when you see one.

YAWN.
when I was 17..hundreds of years ago it was the done thing..cooking oil in the exhaust. rubber bulb, brake line, bleed nipple ...squeeeeeze...poof...get the picture.
Olive oil is better though, has a lower flash point, hence more smoke..quicker.
Also used to pour domestos on rear tyres at the lights, smoke them wheels baby...oh yes, and a box of matches under the rear wheels is good for flaming getaways too, especially if lighter fluid is poured from the front to the rear tyres...just like back to the future. Cool

reckon the smoke idea would work though ....................................... thinks,....... Rolling Eyes ... grins, Laughing and heads for the garage. Twisted Evil
