im gonna be getting a new cylinder for my nsr 125 and from the look of the pic on david silver's it doesnt come with the studs for mounting the cylinder head or exhaust collar.

NSR genius alains says to use threadlock to install new studs, can anyone recommend me some - im not sure what tolerances it needs heat/pressure wise?

Loctite 270 or, if you prefer, the blue one.

The different colours matter less than just using some, any.
I've always gone with copper grease on exhaust studs as it stops them rusting on and snapping the studs off.

Colour relates to strength and temperature.

Blue is medium strength stuff which require fairly low torque to break the bond, around 20Nm. Green, as in 270, needs about 25-30Nm to break the bond and finally red is high strength, requiring 30+ Nm. Sometimes the red is just too strong making it very hard to remove the component without loads of heat.

There are also brown, violet, purple, clear, and who knows what. As said, use what you've got.

Only ever used blue myself and never had a problem. I bought a big 50ml bottle off ebay for under a fiver delivered - Loctite Lock & Seal costs about the same for 3ml and the stuff I've got works just as well.

Only worth bothering if you use a lot of thread lock, though.

I did that, but the genuine Loctite for not much more than £5 for 50ml. Got loads left (now out of date Rolling Eyes).

Blue Loctite is general use where you can reasonably expect to dismantle the component again.
The next strength up is commonly used to fit a stud, and then use low strength(blue), on the nut that fits to the stud. This is to ensure that when you come to undo the nut, the stud stays put.
The highest strength is used to lock threads, fit bearings or other close fitting parts, that you are not expecting to dismantle again. Some considerable years ago, when I sold Loctite, blue was the lowest strength, red was mid-strength and green was the highest strength. This was at least 30 years ago and may well have changed in the meantime, so if it has, apologies for fogging the issue somewhat.
