I saw an advert in sundays News Of The World about recycling old mobile phones for money.

The site was mobilephoneexchange.co.uk. I was thinking of sending them my Nokia 5800 and they'd give me £65 in cash for it, but after reading some reviews they sound a bit shit.

Some people have reported that the company quite often says the phone was received with lots of scratches, when in reality it was fine. The company initially says they'll pay around £60/£70 for it but then change their mind and only pay £20ish.

Does anyone know any reliable companies I can use?

Have only used in shop ones, there are shops which exchange games/phones etc. for cash in shopping centres. That way they can test your phone and say on the spot how much they'll pay and you can decide/dispute. Also receive a better payout if you take it in store credit and swap it for some pre-owned items.

I have used mazuma before they don't mind about wear and tear so a scratched phone makes the same money as a perfect condition phone. However their prices are shite and if you have a phone that's actually worth anything you would be better off selling it instead. An Iphone 4 32gb is worth £320 on mazuma.

There should be no difference in price based on the phone's general condition. It's not like the phone is going to be used again. The raw materials are scavenged and recycled so it makes sod all difference to them if it's scratched.

Did you know that there is more gold in a tonne of mobile phones than there is in a tonne of gold ore?
