Hi Guys.
Just a quick question.
Are the Baglux tankbags fittings universal ... Do they fit all Baglux tank covers? or are there differant sizes fixings.

Cheers Thumbs Up

They're universal mate. The anchor points on all the bagster covers are the same distance. Reason I know is that I've got a bagster tankbag that was a shop display - mounted onto a bike in the showroom. Bought it and it was a job done.

Thanks again Tot..
The reason I asked was a guy wants to buy mine who has a BMW, but he reckons he got a baglux tank bag and it didn't fit..
I thought they were universal but I'm not sure on his story...

Cheers matey.. Paul

You learn something new every day, I thought they were bike specific.

They just come in different sizes. A lot of the extra size/bulk is gained by the addition of side pockets and expandable zippers. I've got a Bagster Minea which sits nicely on my blade's wide tank. It was originally on an FZ-1 in the showroom.

Bagster covers themselves are handy! The prevent damage to your tank when the bike spills over! I bought mine after the horse had bolted so to speak - some pillock reversed onto my bike and as it dropped it hit her tailgate and dented the tank. I didn't notice it at that time and wish I claimed off her insurance... but it doing so I got my tank cover! 3 months later I had a lowside and the tank was fine!

I never realised that Bagster & Baglux was the same company.

Nah, they're the same company or are related at least.

It on the baglux website that they are the distrbutors of bagster tank bags.

Search bagster/baglux on ebay and you come with the same results.

Their systems work interchangeably.

Yes and no.

In theory they are all the same, in practice they don't all fit every bike.

Depends on the geometry of the bag and tank. If you're on a litrebike with a broad flat tank then it matters not. However, naked bikes and roadsters have more of a curve to their tank. Certainly with thin tanks, the larger bagster bags maybe an issue.

But remember to remove them or they are SERIOUSLY going to fuck your paintwork.

?

I have had a Bagster cover on my bike since I bought it nearly 3 years and 25,000 miles ago. It was on the bike when I bought it so I assume it had been on there even longer.

Aside from the tank cap which is grubby the rest of the tank looks brand new.

My Bike is rarely washed and has been crashed a fair bit the tank cleanest part, the paintwork spotless. Thumbs Up

Lucky you then... Both the ER5 and Pup's Fireblade have one, and where the cover has gotten saturated with water in the rain and then left on the bike, it's bubbled the paintwork around the petrol cap on both of them... If I can find batteries for my camera, pics to follow.

Mine is left outside all year round and ridden in all weathers. When I take it off often there is dampness under it but the paint is sound.

My only complaint is that over the years it has started to loose it's shape a bit and doesn't fit perfectly round the tank cap anymore.

Had one on the Bandit for 6 years now and tank is still showroom mint, lift it a couple of times a year when servicing to clean and polish. Can see if you just have the cover and no bag on top to block the tank cutout you could have a problem getting it soaked but lifting it to dry out afterwards does seem commonsense.

I have to say, I never found any scratches on my petrol tank when a cover was fitted.

I fit the cover BECAUSE my petrol tank is scratched and dented! As long as you touch up the scratch or chip with a bit of lacquer, you'd be fine.
