New thread with a few new films in. Feel free to add any more/comment about any. Not all brand new but either on DVD now or soon or something.

Sanctum 4/10 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0881320/
Not that good tbh. Didn't watch in 3d, watched at home. Weak storyline but kind of enjoyable to pass some time. I will never watch again.

True Grit 9.5/10 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1403865/
Very good film. Jeff bridges is epic win. Not gonna spoil anything but if you get the chance to see this, do.

The Next Three Days 9/10 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1458175/
Usually Russel crowe is a bit of a fail actor IMO but this film was brilliant. I really got into it. Very well written and directed. In the film Russels wife gets sent to prison for murder and he realises what is the point in thinking rationally if you will be in despair for the rest of your life.

Red 8/10 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1245526/
Bruce Willis is always good value. Action with comedic moments throughout. Enjoyable to watch. John Malkovich who is a legend stars alongside Helen Mirren and Morgan Freeman.

The Mechanic 7/10 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0472399/
Jason Statham style action film. Very predictable but still a good film if you like his sort of movie.

The Fighter
I am going to watch this tonight. Supposed to be very good. I will update after.

Tonight 10pm BBC V for Vendetta 9.5/10 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0434409/
If you haven't seen this, watch it. The story of a modern day facist state and a freedom fighter who stumbles upon Natalie Portman. The script is awesome in this film and if you haven't seen it and you do not watch it tonight there is something wrong with you, it is that good.

a couple of new ones that ive seen

the sunset limited pretty random, but with tommy lee jones and Samuel L. Jackson it made for a really good film, (they were the only actors in the entire film) 8/10

Kamikaze Girls in the usual japanese fashion, pretty off the wall, subtitled but that just adds to the charm 8/10

boy a kiwi film set in 1984, as a kiwi myself i found it extremly funny, one of the best films to come out of nz for a few years, 9/10

Saw this late on film4 the other week. Really weird film.

Also watched this.

Memories of Matsuko

I was wrecked at the time but was probably one of the trippiest films ever but it got me really into the story. If you ever get a chance to see this, do.

The Green Hornet 6/10 Kind of ruined by Seth Rogen being Seth Rogen too much, but not a total disaster. The bad guy Chudnovsky is brilliantly insecure, and Kato is pretty damn good too. Cameron Diaz isn't really required IMO. I like the fact that Seth Rogen is an inept superhero really.

Karate Kid 7/10 Should really be called "The Kung Fu Kid". Jackie Chan is awesome, Will Smith's son is good if annoying. Some slight plot holes let it down but not a bad movie. Would your mother have let you enter a full contact Kung Fu tournament in China at the age of 12? I don't think so!

The A Team 4/10 Could have been good, but wasn't.

Any Twilight movie 1/10 Good if you like teenage girls agonising about shit. the 1 is for the cool werewolves, and the fact that they go to see a movie called "Face Punch!". I was forced to watch them. Sad

I watched Sanctum in 3D and thought it was pretty good, quite grim. To be honest, you must've watched a poor cam version so it's not really the same at all.

Fairly recently someone got me to watch 'Lucky Number Slevin'. I didn't really rate it at all but watched it again the other night and it's better the second time. Things make more sense because you're looking for it all.

Just started watching 'Drag me to Hell', not seen all of it yet but it seems like a fairly good creepy horror film, nothing special, just a good cheap scare.

The Green Hornet got turned off, it was indeed that bad. Chudnovsky was great but Seth Rogen (who I normally find funny) was just overpowering any humour in the script.

The A Team was actually quite watchable, mindless and fun in a macho brain out fashion.

Red was actually very enjoyable, I'd recommend it.

Robogeisha is worth a giggle if you like Japanese schlockhorror.

The First of the Few is all about the designer of the Spitfire, well worth a watch.

Wimbledon surprised me, I normally can't stand Kirsten Dunst but it was a thoroughly enjoyable romcom.

Not a film, but I watched the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice again recently. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Watched Unbreakable at the cinema the other day, and thought it was pretty good, not as good as taken but worth a watch.

Unbreakable with Bruce Willis and Samuel L Jackson? At the cinema? The other day?

Do you own a time machine or is the cinema in your local Mongolian village only authorised to show films a decade after they're released?
