As the iPAD 2 has been launched in the US there are a good view reviews of the iPAD 2, in your opinions has Apple done enough?

iPad one was a fail.

For me gadets need to have at least 1 definitive use.

Phone = calls.
iPod = music.
Laptop = computer

iPad? Has nothing, just a pretty computer that isn't as fast, can't run as many programmes. Just an oversized iPod that can browse the internet slightly faster than a mobile.
When connected to WiFi.

I think there is a place for tablets i just don't think they have got it right yet, the Dell Duo was a good idea but not great spec. I like the idea of being able to take the screen off my laptop and using it as a tablet for image browsing / in house automation etc but to use it for typing you need a keyboard.

I had high hopes for the Lenovo's U1 very good potential but its not 100% right software wise.

Exactly.

I'd love to have a tablet, I just can't justify a reason to myself for buying one.

Thumbs Up

It's an expensive way to browse the Internet (e.g. while watching TV) and entertain yourself (games etc). Battery life is better than laptop too.

May aswell get a netbook then. Nice long battery life and better browsing capabilities plus all the silly flash games online etc...

Even though I love Android I still think tablets are a huge waste of money right now

Yes butterrob that's the thing i do a lot of photography work and love to view photos and prefer the idea of touch screen to flick through but i also want a netbook i want both on one machine. The Lenovo U1 is the perfect idea for me a combination of both.

It's a genuinely useful email/web tool for the non tech savvy or those that simply can't be bothered to fiddle imo, my boss swears by his as a quick and dirty email/web tool that doesn't suffer virus woes like his PCs often do. On the other hand I personally would have little use for one and certainly wouldn't carry it everywhere like he does.

Well, there would be because the people who buy Apple products are a bunch of fanboys.

I've got 3 laptops 2 Windows 1 umbuntu (I work in IT), a desktop PC and an Ipod touch.

I use the Ipod a lot, just because it's soo easy to turn on and quickly browse the net.

I've considered an Ipad, but they are expensive. I can see they are a lot cheaper in the US, but I only travel to Europe with my work.

Maybe, if I get a tax rebate, I'll consider it.

Not being able to spell the name of the OS installed on your laptop must fill your bosses/users with confidence...

My PDA can do that, and it's donkeys years old.

If you've got a use for it then it's a win I guess. If Steve Jobs were to come to my house and give me a free one I wouldn't know what to do with it. My phone does a perfectly good job of checking emails, facebook etc. and if I want to browse the web I'll use my computer Confused

Bah, Apple upset me by generating hysteria around their latest thing. All the fan boi's will be dropping their iPad 1's like hot shit and getting the latest version. Makes me fear for the future of humanity.

Difference being that I suspect he would struggle to setup the wifi on an Axim/iPaq or the like, let alone get the email client going. I suspect very very few original pocket pc/psion/palm owners could be considered non tech savvy Smile

I've never really liked apple products, the things they can do aren't required by myself, so why shell out for one?
And tbh my friend bought one for his web design, then spent half the price on a custom desktop that did a better job.. And does a decent job at gaming.

I've seen the Ipad being used for showing off pictures and that's about it, I've also got many computers, and I just use my BB if I just need to find a basic peice of info out (like the phone number for a shop) and my netbook in the bed room, it runs Ubuntu (I can spell see! Razz (Just watch someone point out a typo) and is usually up and running in less than 30 seconds, if you don't have that much patience then nothing will help you :p

(get's ready for typo's and refuses to press "Spell Check")
