I was bored, so made one this morning in Excel.

Simply input the price of your consumables and how many miles you get from them into the pale blue area, and the sheet will do the rest. The guestimated figures in there currently are for my ER5.

The sheet will show you your current PPM and also show you a projected PPM as petrol prices rise, which can also be seen as a graph under the PPM Forecast Graph tab.

Enjoy.

Either your ER5 is PHENOMENALLY cheap to run or you're a couple of orders of magnitude out Laughing

You've got the figures in £ per mile rather than pence. Thumbs Up

This may help you out pinky.

Buy an old car with a V8 engine (should cost you tuppence ha'penny. Drive a around enjoying the sound and speed. Now look at the consumption. Now look at your marvelously economical big bike with fresh eyes. Smile

My ZX6r is parsimonious compared to my old BMW barge (retained for school run and shopping).

For those unable to download the file (work restrictions?) here is a website that calculates similiar figures...for fuel usage at least:

do i detect a flaw?

The £ per Mile under the forecast doesn't appear to update itself and worksheet appears to be locked, ie only you fiddle in the blue boxes.........?

everything else appears to work fine

The pound per mile is not supposed to update in the forecast table, as you simply scroll down to the PPL you want to see.

Only the consumables change in that table, which obviously makes the total change too.

And yes, I locked the cells Razz

VB Coder? Laughing

I'm going to modify the table now so it works for pence per mile, as it doesn't really make any sense in pounds and as Tommy pointed out, I made a mistake.

Now a pence per mile calculator like it should have always been Thumbs Up

If anyone has any consumable items they would like to suggest to put in the spreadsheet to make it more accurate, please post them up.

what I'm saying is that it appears to be locked onto your 55mpg figure, as when i change the bike's MPG, the figures updates in the bluey box area but not on the forecast overall but the consumables updates itself in the forecast just not the MPG figure on the £ per mile

Good work, have modified to include my car running costs! Shocked

this seems a little wrong

Item Cost (£) Miles Pence Per Mile
Petrol 16.00 130 56.00
Tyres 180.00 6000 3.00
C&S 94.00 15000 0.63
Oil & Filter25.00 4000 0.63
Brake pads55.00 10000 0.55

why is the pence per mile = cost * 4.55 / miles;

the pence per mile should literally be cost / miles surely? where does the 4.55 come from?
