Well, say what you like, I'm glad I'm not the only one.
For some reason, though, the sounds I get are either a) fresh out of eraserhead, or b) sirens.
The destructive daydreams are fairly common, I'm told, although I've not actually met anyone else that admits to them, so to the both of youse loons. ____________________ '10 SV650SF, '83 GS650GT (it lives!), Questionable DIY dash project, 3D Printer project, Lasercutter project |

They're called taboo impulses... I remember talking to pabbers about this on the drive to Hetzers.
Essentially, your mind knows what is wrong/danger/damaging, and likes to run simulations.
My ones tend to run into;
Vividly seeing me hospitalising people I'm talking to... and I mean nasty beat downs
Getting the urge to kiss men I'm sat with in a vaguely intimate way (ie sat together watching a film)
Wanting to jump off of bridges
Wanting to swing my bike into oncoming traffic
Vividly seeing myself destroying my laptop/glass whatever
Stabbing myself with things.
The whole gamut really.
I realised long ago this didn't mean anything particularly dodgy, as long as I could control it. But when you;re talking to your Grandma or mum and you can vividly see yourself staving their head in with the spade that's sat next to you... it gets a bit disturbing.

I suppose I should have added the caveat that a person with these conditions should see a quack if those events are detrimentally effecting that persons life/well being/relationships etc but as you seem to be doing ok and haven't buried or eaten any bodies yet then business as usual I'd say.
I've had the violent imagery before, I have actually mentioned it on here before ages ago in another thread and I remember a lot of other people saying then that it was something that occured to them as well. There's loads of incidents but one was where I was standing in my office and the Managing Director was holding a meeting with some VIPs and I had just made a fresh scolding hot tea, and my hand jerked forward a bit as I was imagining saying "Oi, Geoff!" and as he turned around dashing the scolding hot liquid right in his face, then I started giggling to myself and the VIPs looked at me funny and so I went and sat down.
I've been stood having a convo with a friend once and all of a sudden he jerked his hand towards me with a clenched fist, I was like WTF you doing? He said sorry mate, I just had an overwhelming urge to punch you right in the fucking face then, he had trouble explaining it but then I laughed and said ah I know what you mean, we then exchanged stories and realised again that it's more common than you'd like to think. I don't worry about it as long as I'm not actually doing these things then where's the harm.
EDIT: Found the original thread here:
https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=152851&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight
This was of course when I was fairly new here and wasn't accustomed to Warped spouting constant and utter shite all the time.
| Quote: | Judge me all you want but these are ' episodes ' and not the full me, people that know me take it in their stride, after all, they explain to others that ' That's just the way Ad is ' and leave it at that, you make your own mind up as to whether you want to get to know me any further, if not then that's fine, I wouldn't want you around me anyway...
|
Wouldn't bother me one iota, although it's helpful knowing this stuff since I'm likely to meet you at this Quatt meet, as the "Staring" thing would have set my internal alarm bells ringing, as is only natural really, but now I know, I'll just remind myself that you mean no harm........or are about to stuff a claw hammer into my skull

Oh yeah I had one of those the other day.
I imagined that I had a huge knife, with the tip touching my eyeball. And I was relying on the cat that i was holding next to it, not to move.

Well firstly, sorry to the OP for sort of derailing his thread...
Secondly, after talking about issues on here and reading the replies I've concluded you lot are a right bunch of ' loony ' bastards, I didn't mean to bring others out of the woodwork, nice to know I'm not alone though...Thank you
( I've always asked people that comment on my, let's call it a ' condition ', how do they know I'm not ' sane ' and that they're the ones with a problem, normally shuts them up as they try to work it out...Also the words with '...' around them are there because that's how people read/speak, I hate labels, but those are the words that people associate with this/these ' condition/s ' )... ____________________ Previous Bikes...Honda NSR 125 RR...Kawasaki Zephyr 550...Suzuki SV 1000 S...Yamaha FZ8...Current Bike...Suzuki GSX-R 750... |

Cheers for the mentions you lot.
Going mental, or slightly 'screwy' does have it's advantages.
If you mental like me, then your never alone because someone is always talking to you.
My head works in magical ways, my last mental assessment something told me I was Harold Shipman been interviewed and went all serious.
But still the tests are easy to pass, after all i'm not typing this with my toes, whilst sat in a padded cell.
We all have our down days/weeks/ even months, but at the end you'll pull through it. Then you can look back and laugh at it.
My dad is now starting to take the micky after my last turn, when I tried to take his bike for a spin, but was stopped by a swift blow to the face by my mate. ____________________ amnesia - Never in the history of usernames has one been more accurate. Warped indeed. You sir are a fecking oddball. |

One cheap thing to check out is vitamin B... |
Not just drinking heavily, I think Carl Sagan proposed fortifying all the foodstuffs in the middle east with it because he figured they had a B-vit deficient diet and the effects on brain function were why they couldn't help from getting needlessly wound up and kicking seven shades out of each other all the time... And good levels of them are necessary for proper foetal mental development in pregnancy so there may be something in it. (Also helps with iron absorbtion, and having enough of that about is a good thing for dealing with stress if only to keep the oxygen flowing and your mind alert)
Bagger ... Though the details are sparse it sounds like you're in the sort of spot I found myself suffering a few years back, and in a more mild way from time to time since. As far as I can tell, it's the outer stages of clinical depression (fairly justified if your life's on the skids no matter how hard you graft). Keeping yourself busy with positive things in whatever "off" time you have can help, and keeping up with mates and family. Sharing your troubles for one thing and knowing there's someone who you can lean on - even if they can't actually do anything concrete to help - is valuable. Also if you can have them agree to kick your arse if you seem to be crawling into a hermit shell and getting suicidal, which is even better.
Doesn't always work though, so having a word with your GP and seeing if there's an NHS councellor you can talk to would be worth a shot. They can check you out generally whilst you're there too and make sure it's not actually something physical (thyroid, dietary deficiencies, other disorders)... this may require a blood test, mind. And though the implications, outcomes and severity of the situation for everyone is different, they may put you on some (hopefully temporary) antidepressants. I got a bit paranoid at it all when I was prescribed them when really the root of what was going on was a shit job and arguments with my mum - and the councellor helped with some of that (though I never did get her to come in for the agreed group session), as did quitting the stupid grind in favour of something lower paid and less reliable, but far less soul crushing, so I never actually took any of them. But they're still at the back of the cupboard just in case. |
