Basically I'm selling a phone with no charger, box, cables, anything (found it, can't afford not to sell it. Call me a dick but I don't expect anyone to give me mine if I lose it)
What I'm wondering is: Is it worth getting a cheap data cable and charger from ebay (not originals, cheap copies) and then sell the phone with them, or will the fiver or so that I spend on that not be justified?
I'm thinking not many people would want to buy a phone without the essentials. Any ebay experience to share?
Thanks Karma

Mazuma mobile or suchlike is probably a better option than ebay if you're needing to sell a stolen phone.

I imagine they'd check the imei before handing over cash, and report you to the plod if it was found to be reported stolen - whether anything would be done about it is a different matter.

Thieving pikeys normally fence their goods at cash converters as far as I can tell.

Dont be a fucking douche, if you found it in a place, hand it in to reception. If you found it in the street, hand it over to the plod station.
If the person who lost it goes looking for it, the best you can do is give them half a chance.

Better yet if its out of power, borrow a charger from a friend, charge it up, turn it on, and have a wee browse of the phone book. Look for "home", "mum", "the wife", or "dad" or something and let them know you have found a phone.

Just because everyone else is a scumbag doesnt justify you being equally just as scummy

Its not that hard to find the owner of a phone, as its been said just turn the phone on and find a number to call. Mum, dad, home etc.

Theft by finding by the way. If its been reported lost/stolen it will be blocked and you'll just get hassle from eBay.

As others have said, if you assume the rights of the owner and sell it on, you've stolen it.

You are in for a world of pain when you sell it if the person who lost it has had it blocked, and your buyer can't unlock it. If the owner has reported the loss to the cops they'll have recorded the IMEI number.

I would recommend handing it to the police or checking for missed calls and messages from the person who lost it.

I left my phone on a bus (fell out on my pocket). Someone handed it into the driver. he phoned my work number and I arranged a time to collect it. I give him a reward for been honest.

At the time I hadn't copied all the numbers off the phone. If I had lost it I would also have lost all my contact numbers.

Do the right thing and hand it in or turn it on and phone someone in the contacts. Thumbs Up

Lost a phone twice in a month and both times I was called and it was returned, once by a lady that was struggling with two kids. Try not to be thieving pikey scum, she wasn't.

Dick. Have a word with yourself, huh?

Do the right thing and either power it up and call one of the contacts as suggested, or if you want to be a bit sly and still retain a tiny amount of moral high ground hand it in to the local cop shop; if nobody claims it within a month it will be yours anyway.

How about one of you buy it from him and give it back to the owner?

:p

Having got my phone stolen from a car when I was playing football, it's not good to lose a hell of a lot of numbers, texts, videos and pictures.

Maybe you are totally broke and need the money, but sometimes karma does work in mysterious ways, and a phone isn't one of them when it comes to a good thing.

Also don't ever talk about scummy stuff on BcF, or in fact most forums, it's not a good idea.

That would require the OP to have an IQ in the double digits though.

I found a phone when I was a teen, called the number under home and returned it, ungrateful bitch barely even said thanks.

Nonetheless, most people aren't quite as devoid of social decency and would probably appreciate it being returned.

I would, but I'd be handling stolen property.

OP: So Mazuma give you a tenner for a phone you've stolen from someone? Congratulations. You've discovered how much your soul is worth. Neutral

I've found phones before as well, I've ALWAYS done a search for dirty pictures or videos and had a little nosey before ringing a contact and returning it.
